I called around to a few places to see if I may need transmission work done and was not given the best service or the most easily understood response. When I called Globe Transmissions I spoke with Bob and he told me to come in and they would take a look and see what was going on. It turned out to be a minor issue and I was able to have it that day. I was not charged to have it looked at and Bob explained the issue to me so I could understand. I am truly impressed with Globe Transmissions. Not only did they do a great job repairing my transmission, they have also done repair work on my car. As a woman I was afraid I would be taken advantage of but found Bob to be extremely honest about what needed to be done. He explained everything to me so I could understand it. They really dragged their feet to fix my car because the mechanic was was working on his boat before a long weekend. They had it nearly a week. It may have been better to simply close instead of bringing boat in and letting me know that was the priority. I had to rent a car to go to work. Their diagnosis was suspect because I had spark when I brought them the vehicle, then needed to pay for an ignition coil as well as the problem it had when I brought it to them. They told me I burnt it out trying to start it and had NO spark. Verifying it had spark was the last thing I did before it was in their hands. So, sometime after I dropped it off and before it was fixed another problem was added to the bill. Shady feeling here. Sorry guys. Two days later I found my dipstick left in front of the wiper blades under the hood where they left it. What would that have cost??!! Do yourself a favor right now if you are thinking of bringing your car there: Find a more trustworthy mechanic. more

I went in there for an oil change. My mother really liked the friendly service so she recommended them to me. They had dollar signs in their eyes when I walked in. After waiting a few minutes for the oil change, the owner/mechanic came in to tell me that I had a transmission leak and they had to add transmission fluid when they were checking my fluids. They took me into the garage to look at the ""leaky seal"" on the transmission. There was transmission fluid dripping off my transmission but my vision is good - there was no leak. They had squirted fluid all over the outside of the casing and tried to get me to pay for a rebuild of my transmission. I told them that I wasn't going to fix that today - despite how much they insisted. It's been a year and a half since then - I haven't had any transmission problems and my fluid is still full. Avoid these guys - they're shady and will try to steal your money. Pros: They're very nice to your face. Cons: They'll con your out of your money. more

I'm writing because I'm truly impressed with this shop not only do they specialize in Transmissions but they also do Repair work as well. I have never seen anything like it. I truly felt (at home). I was greeted I wasn't given a run around. I even did my homework to find the best shop to do my transmissions for me. I found it. If you are truly looking for a job well done. This is the place!!!!! Pros: Technicians are extremely good at what they do. Cons: Not open on Saturdays in the summer. more

I have a Honda accord 1999 and took it to globe transmission in Southbridge MA because the gear would stick between reverse and a neutral. So I they took it apart and told me it would take $1000 in parts and $900 for labor and tax. I said yes so they told me they replace all the parts inside the transmission. I got the car back 4 days later and as soon I got the car out their garage it was making a load noise so I took it back and the repaired it in less than 15 minutes. Three days later the problem with the transmission show up again so I took it back to them. They explained to me they could not find out what was the problem so they call other mechanic to find out what was the problem. They repaired the transmission ""again"" and i was told the gear that control the shift was bad it needed to be replaced so they changed it without additional cost. Funny I thought they replaced all the parts for $1000 before. A week and half later the car was repaired again. This time with no problems. Everywhere I ask people keep telling $2000 for repairing a manual transmission is extremely expensive. I learned my lesson ask for a second opinion and never ever bring it to Globe transmission in Main st Southbridge Ma 01550. Beware. I am very upset. Hope this help you decide if you want the transmission repaired in Globe Transmission. Pros: 4000 mile warranty or 3 months Cons: Extremely expensive.
