Same Experience! 1/10/2003

Unfortunately, I had a very similar experience. Getting information from them is like pulling tooth. It's as if they don't want to get people involved. I wish I knew who to complain to. It's just ridiculous. Cons: Can't get information more

Rude! 7/15/2002

I was interested in joining this YMCA, but now I am completely turned off. I called to ask about membership, and the lady in Member Services who answered the phone sounded annoyed and impatient and eventually hung up on me! She was patronizing and very rude the whole time. She was also carrying on a parallel conversation in the background, giggling with the person, and made me repeat all my questions because she was not listening. She did not apologize for any of her behavior. When I asked her about the facilities offered at the location, she pressumably got another call and hung up on me!! I hope her manager finds out about her poor behavior. I realize this may be an isolated incident or she maybe just one bad apple in the barrel, but the Glendale YMCA has just lost a valuable potential customer. Cons: Rude staff more

  • In Short
The first U.S. branch of the YMCA started in Boston in 1851; there are now more than 2,500 locations nationwide, making it the country's largest nonprofit community service program. Each YMCA reflects the community it's in, offering differing services based on the area. Most include fitness areas with aerobic equipment, classes and racquetball and tennis courts. Many also have day care and after-school programs, as well as summer day camps.
