Gladys Porter Zoo 4/13/2006

The Gladys Porter Zoo is the only one of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley. I have been going here since I was in elementary and they just keep on adding more and more to this place. They have a very nicely diverse arrangement of the animals that are contained here. The best exhibit is the reptile house with lots of wild behind the scenes critters. more

Zoo 4/13/2006

The Gladys Porter Zoo is the only zoo in the Rio Grande Valley. The zoo is relatively small, but the animals seem to have better containment areas than those at some of the larger zoos. The zoo has some very cool areas, such as the bird and reptile houses. The zoo runs some special events during the year. I recommend the Boo at the Zoo event. Gladys Porter Zoo has several small concession stands that are reasonably priced. more

Zoo 3/30/2006

This is a very nice zoo! In fact it is beautiful and very tropical. Although it is a small zoo the animals all have pretty large areas to roam and play around for viewers. There is basically little canals that run throughout the zoo which are not only pretty but are used somewhat as a way to keep the animals in their areas. There are snack stands all around and pretty paths to navigate the zoo on. Suprisingly, for such a small zoo I expected to feel saddened by small cages but I was really impressed by this little zoo and thought it was much nicer than some larger cities zoos. more

Animals 8/6/2005

Going to the zoo is one of my favorite places to visit. I recently took my niece to the zoo and she was very excited. The zoo was clean and the animals seemed to be at ease. We walked the entire perimeter of the zoo and felt like we had been all over the world due to all the different kinds of animals there were. They also had a cute gift shop where I purchased my niece a visor and a t-shirt. They also had snack bars throughout the zoo and plenty of places to sit and rest. www.gpz.org more
