Called Gillece because our drain backed up during Steelers game. They arrived quickly, but then proceeded to make a very impressive attempt to rip us off. The technician misrepresented the problem (roots in the outside sewer drain pipe... common in western Pa, easily treatable for about $15 a year worth of drain root treatment). They told us we needed an ENTIRE new drain. And they quoted a specific price, most plumbers will bill you hourly. Their total cost was $6,000. So we decided to get a second opinion. Turns out they didn't even do the job we asked them to! The second opinion plumber acutally CLEANED the drain like we had originally asked. Yes, he cost more than Gillece for a service call. But we saved approximately $5,900 overall because he said we had NO problems. The plumber also said that if the sewer drain were a problem, he'd charge $1,600 to replace it. Instead it's clear Gillece found a "problem" as quickly as they could and tried to sucker us into paying for a completely unnecessary repair at 3X market cost. After talking with other people who they tried to scam, or actually scammed, I will never EVER call this company again. And I will be filing papers with the consumer protection agency for false diagnosis, false representation of a problem, and major price gauging. They are a horrible business, with clearly horrible business practices, and should be avoided at ALL COSTS. **Side note: we had them do a furnace checkup on our house in 2007 where they said we needed a new ignitor switch and new power converter. We decided not to do those repairs (total of about $400 which we couldn't afford at the time) and THREE years later, we still have NO problems with our heater. We're very sorry we called them a second time. Their slogan is "Same day or you don't pay" but should be "Same day... because oh we're gonna make you pay"
