Like many extremely good doctors, Dr. Gerard was faced with too many patients and not enough time to give each and every one the quality care or service he wanted to give. That troubled him greatly.
His waiting room was always full and getting a quick appointment was an impossible challenge. However, when he did walk into your waiting room, you quickly understood why you didn't mind the long wait. He was always personable, is brilliant, careful and very thorough.
In the late part of 2006 all his patients were encouraged to attend an evening meeting held at Universal Hotel. I attended and learned that Dr. Gerard was joining the Concierge Choice Physician program. He would limit his practice to only about 650 patients instead of his usual 2,000 plus. Each patient would get Dr. Gerard's personal cell number, have almost immediate access to his Burbank office and a yearly physical was encouraged. The catch: a yearly fee to each patient. My husband and I gladly pay the current individual $1800 premium just to have his excellent care.
I recently was very sick with bronchitis and within three hours of my only call to his office I was sitting in front of his caring face, given a shot, breathing treatment and an RX for meds. He personally called me a few days later to see how I was feeling and asked me to come in again when I mentioned I was still coughing my brains out. Got another quick appointment and more meds. I've scheduled a full physical and will continue to be his patient forever, because he is THAT good. Graduated at the top of his class in Med school. He is located across from Saint Joseph Medical Center and still has room in his practice for more patients, I'm told.
