After realizing the success of their Santa Monica restaurant for more than 20 years, George and his wife, Sheri opened a second location in Valencia. Upon your arrival, George, the owner, and his daughter Diana, the general manager, make you feel welcome, as if you?re part of the family. The family-based philosophy would not be successful without real attention to detail on all levels.
With their attentive nature, the friendly staff makes guests feel welcome while never forgetting their immediate task at hand, excellent service. And they certainly have mastered the skill, frequently visiting their tables to ensure their guests receive the attention they deserve.
Offering diners delectable dishes for lunch and dinner on weekdays, the Valencia location also serves a large variety of breakfast items on Sunday mornings. In addition to the typical breakfast fare, some of the more unique items include five varieties of French toast including a gourmet version that is topped with cinnamon-apple walnut compote after lightly encrusting a slice of bread with Kellogg?s Honey Nut Corn Flakes, and then cooking until golden. Also worth mentioning are the fresh, hand-made sweet and savory crepes. My favorites include the creamed spinach and egg crepes that are topped with hollandaise sauce and the chocolate hazelnut fruit crepes that are filled with hazelnut-infused ricotta, strawberries and bananas and then drizzled with chocolate.
In addition to serving an extensive breakfast menu, George?s Bistro offers guests a myriad of choices for lunch and dinner. Some of my favorite dishes include Chicken Florentine, which blends penne pasta with chicken saut?ed with garlic, tomatoes, brandy, Parmesan cheese in a creamed spinach marinara sauce; Chicken Veronique, a savory dish that consists of a rolled chicken filet stuffed with saut?ed spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic, herbs and smoked mozzarella, and then topped with a delicious creamed spinach-tomato sauce; and Seafood Ravioli, a delicious mixture of pasta pockets filled with crab meat, shrimp and Mozzarella cheese over a lemon cream sauce and garnished with saut?ed bay shrimp and Parmesan cheese.
Other popular dishes worth trying include: Chicken Jambalaya, a flavorful dish that is served over rice or linguini; BBQ Baby Back Ribs accented with a homemade traditional hickory sauce and cooked slowly until they fall of the bone; and Penne Bolognaise, which saut?s USDA ground choice sirloin with mushrooms, peas, garlic and brandy cream sauce.
With a full bar and an extensive wine list, their experienced bartenders can whip up just about any variety of exotic drink requests. They also feature a private dining area, which lends itself as an ideal location to celebrate those special occasions or office get-togethers. And they also make house calls, offering a majority of their menu items in larger quantities so guests can bring a taste of George?s Bistro to their door for an especially delicious catered event.
By combining great food at a reasonable price and impeccable service, George?s Bistro has cultivated the ingredients for success. This restaurant most definitely is worth putting on your list of restaurants worth visiting.
