I'm a dude. And in being a non-Daddy Warbucks average joe, I am very put out when it comes to shopping for fancy things like jewelery.\r \r I had a specific gift in mind when I went foraging for a diamond pendant as a Christmas gift to my wife. A quick search on Google yielded Malloys, and thank goodness, as they made the experience pretty painless.\r \r Though their website is designed more for the out-of-town shopper (I couldn't find their hours posted on it anywhere!), the store is very inviting and open in the antique 'district' of Carlsbad Village. I guess since I already had an idea (and a specific price range) of what I wanted, it probably made the experience that much smoother. The salesperson who helped me was very professional and we managed to find the perfect piece that also fit my wallet (though, surprisingly, they tried showing me a few pieces that were on the cheaper side of my budget, which leads me to assume that I shouldn't go shopping for fancy stuff in blue jeans and a t-shirt!)\r \r They seemed to have a good selection, with things ranging in the 'I-mowed-lawns-for-the-entire-summer-to-get-this-­for-you"" gifts to the 'your-great-grandchildren-will-be-paying-for-this-­long-after-your-gone' pieces more

It was really perfect, and it's rare that I give that kind of comment! In retrospect, I wish we had a day longer at each spot, and for me...I wish I had done more reading before I left. I will be back! more

This jewelry store has a wonderful selection of jewelry. It is definately NOT your average place. I re-did my wedding set with them and was impressed with the selection of diamond rings in addtition to the quality of service. The ladys at Mulloys were the nicest! While shopping for my ring I also fell in Love with their designer jewelry lines, and now have a wish list for necklaces and earrings from the Marco Bicego Italian line. I just love it's organic style and rich feel.\r If you are looking to purchase new jewelry, this is the place to go! more

Be very wary of all of the recent ""positive/outstanding"" reviews of Mulloy's. Ever since I wrote my true experience of this place, they are trying to mask my review with an influx of good ones. Beware!\r \r One star is too much!\r \r Avoid this place like the plague, or when you pick a piece, hang on to it and DO NOT LET THEM TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOUR SIGHT!\r \r Last year, my husband & I bought an estate engagement ring from Mulloy's. When I decided I wanted to purchase it and let Pauline (I believe is her name - English accented middle-aged woman) know, I felt uncomfortable with her repeated requests to hand it back. I decided to say 'no' and kept it. It was too small, but I decided to keep it and bring it home. Pauline told me that she needed time to find the paperwork on it and if I wanted to come back tomorrow and have it resized for free, she would have it then.\r \r We took our receipt, which stated it was set in a platinum band and had a photocopy of the details of the ring. Over night, my husband wanted me to rethink the idea of having the ring resized with Mulloy's because it was free and we decided to go back.\r \r I felt uneasy and should have listened to my gutt when I noticed that Pauline was more than too happy to take the ring back. She sent us off to come back in an hour. We showed up with our receipt in hand, to which she promptly snatched off the counter & shredded it before our eyes, while informing us that they made a mistake and that the band was only 14k, not platinum. She was rude and scoffed at the request for a discount due to the lower cost band and sucked her teeth and sighed at my request to examine the ring again under the loop.\r \r The markings of the ring were not the same, or in the same spot (as shown to me by another lady the first day who very nicely showed me to hold the name on the inside of the band facing me and see the two very small spots) and we were in shock. \r \r Pauline and the owner made us feel like we were crazy and showed us our official paperwork belonging to my new ring. Since we had now had no original paperwork because she shredded it and it was paid for in full, we felt we had no recourse and left in shock with the ring.\r \r After taking the ring home and having it appraised at a reputable appraiser, we found out that the size of the diamond and color was overestimated, not to mention the clarity being lesser than the ring I originally purchased. \r \r I wouldn't hesitate to think that they have done this 'bait & switch' trick before. Pauline is too slick and very manipulative with customers. \r \r We tried calling the owner and Pauline, but they would not return our calls. In hindsight, of course there are a few things that I would have done differently, but you live and learn. Since finding these review sites, I've decided to at least help others avoid what we've gone through. I would NOT recommend Mulloy's to my worst enemy! more

Was fortunate to have a friend refer me to Mulloys. They greatly exceeded my expectations by meeting my budget with something I only ever dreamed of having for my fiancé. Gaylene and Kimberly are extremely knowledgable and understood just how special this time was for me. I was treated like one of the Mulloy family. I will be returning for my wedding band and will forever give them all my future business. Thanks Mulloys. more

Usually people write reviews when they have had bad experiences but I like to write good reviews when I can. I had one of the best retail experiences ever when I purchased a ring from Mulloy's. I contacted them by email about a ring I saw on their website. The salesperson, Mary, replied back right away and she was very helpful. I told her what I wanted and she actually listened and didn't try to talk me into something more expensive. She quoted me a good price and I had my new ring by the end of the week. No trauma...no drama...just great service. Thanks Mary and thanks Mulloy's. more

I don't usually take the time to write down my shopping experiences but I just had to say a few words about my experience at Mulloy's Jewelry in Carlsbad. I was shopping on-line for a diamond engagement ring for my fiance and it seemed like everywhere I went I was either getting the run around or having to deal with pushy sales people. I contacted Mulloy's and in no time I purchased a great ring at a great price. I went into the shop to pick it up after it came in and the jeweler set the diamond for me while I waited. I couldn't be happier. By the way...she said yes!!! I guess I'll be coming back for our one-year anniversary! Thanks Mary and Gaylene (sp?) more

I was looking to purchase some nice designer pieces of jewelry for myself as well as a birthday gift. I was looking on line and discovered Mulloys Fine Jewelry.After selecting several pieces that I had questions about I phoned them and Mary was available to help me. I have never had such fabulous service in all of my years of purchasing jewelry.Such a great selection, prices were very good and after selecting 3 pieces of jewelry to purchase, they informed me that I would have the pieces in my hand in 2 days not 2 weeks like most website stores take and I was very excited. I had seen Roberto Coin bangle bracelets in a department store, so I decided to search the web to find a better price. In my research, I stumbled across Mulloy's Fine Jewelry. I called them and spoke with a wonderful person, Cindee. She identified the bracelets and gave me a price over the phone; She also informed me about a special that the store was running, which made the bracelets even more affordable. So I decided to purchase them, as their price was better than what I had seen in the stores. Not wanting to burden them with a personal check, I sent a bank check while they gladly held the bracelets for me; in fact Cindee ordered brand new ones for me directly from the manufacturer, stating that several of the ones that she had in the store were scratched. I sent her the check and called to make sure that she had recieved it...which she did. She had a little difficulty verifying the check, though, because it came from a special fund. Before the check could be verified, she stated that she was sending the jewelry out to me immediately. I recieved it and it is gorgeous! I called Cindee to thank her and she was delighted that I was happy! My experience with Mulloys was wonderful! I had an attentive salesperson who was patient and honest. And I wouldn't hesitate to deal with her again! more

I had an occasion to go looking for a pair of earrings form my wife on our 10th anniversary. I live in Mira Mesa and found Mulloys Fine Jewelry on line. My phone dealings with Mary at Mulloys were quite pleasant. She said she had some earrings that might fit my style and budget needs so I made an appointment to drive up to Carlsbad the next day. When I got there Mary was waiting for me with a very nice selection of earrings that were exactly what I was looking for. I ended up buying the earrings and a matching pendant. My wife was absolutely thrilled. I'll be heading back to Mulloys to see Mary in a couple of months...this time for a ring for my wife's birthday. Thank you Mary! You're the best. more
