I am really surprised about all the negative reviews about Geisha House OC. I am a big fan of the Hollywood location, so was excited when they opened one near me down in OC. Yes, I admit, the location is not necessarily my ""ideal"" (would prefer more Newport/CDM/Laguna, but it's worth the drive from my beachside home inland up the 55 to Santa Ana to enjoy the vibe of this place. It's really a great concept. First, the restaurant oozes red...the decor and the energy is contagious. It's not your average run-of-the-mill restaurant, where you sit and it's boring and quiet. The Geisha House is large and bustling with activity (but no so much that you cannot hear yourself - or others - talk at your table). Groovy tunes play in the background and the waitress have really unique costumes on, that go hand-in-hand with the geisha theme. There are many seating options...on the large outdoor patio (nice in the summer months), or inside, or even upstairs...The bar is away from the dining area, so if you're there for just a drink, you can go mix and mingle, and be apart from the diners. From visting Geisha several times, the one thing I always notice is how friendly the waiters and waitresses are. They seem to get along well, and work in a team-like way. For example, if one is busy, then someone else will take over or help out....I like having multiple people at my beck and call while dining! We tried many of the appetizers, and I found them all to be delicious. When I get sushi, I like to sample various things, and ALWAYS ask the waiter their opinion about the rolls, and appetizers, and I find that you cannot go wrong in this case! I loved sampling the various dishes and I appreciated the great suggestions. The other amazing thing about Geisha, I found, that OTHER Sushi restaurants do NOT have, is the extensive Sake' list and Alcohol options. The Sake Menu is extensive and it was interesting to sample various kinds - both hot and cold. I loved that!! Finally, I most-recently went here on a weekend night. The owners have come up with a great concept to keep the fun happening on Fridays and Saturdays. At around 10:30, after dining has ended, the Geisha HOuse turns into a Club...it's great - they have DJ's, Dancing, Music, and it's just a great overall vibe....So if you go on Fri and Sat, and get a little buzz going, then you can stay later and dance the night away!! :) One last comment I have is about the Monday night half-priced Sushi....All you can eat, at 1/2 off on Monday....one of my fav nights to go. You can't beat that!!! :) All Hail to Geisha House!! :)
Pros: Atmosphere, Friendly Waiters, Food!
