My name is Catherine Herbert and I don't know much about computers. At some point in the last month I believe my computer became infected with a virus. It was making my internet run very slow and I was unable to email my grandson away in Iraq. This being my only way to communicate with him I became very distressed. I wasn't confident enough to be able to attempt to fix it myself. Besides I hear hammers and computers don't go well together. :) \r \r I got in touch with the local geek squad and dropped my machine off. For $199.99 and three days of work they said they would have it up and running better than ever! This didn’t go down like the nice gentleman wearing black trousers had promised. 7 Business days later, I still had a broken computer and a quote for $449 to remove viruses, fix the hard drive and install antivirus software. Not happy with this price, and already out $200, I started calling a few acquaintances. \r One suggestion I received was to call Secure Remote Support. I called their toll free number to inquire about the cost and was told that they could remove my virus for $79.99 and could do it either by remotely connecting or if I preferred I could send the computer in to them. For time saving purposes, I chose to have them remotely connect and was assured if they could not fix the problem there would be no charge for their time. I liked the sound of that so I took them up on it. After about and hour the computer was repaired and I was ready to email again! No need to replace the hard drive. They did also sell me this antivirus software for another $59.99. It also came with a guarantee as well. They definitely did a great job, and Ill be thinking twice before going anywhere else. more

This Review is FALSE and written by Secure Remote Support 3/16/2010

What you are about to read is false and was written by a company called secure remote support to promote their business by ""piggybacking"" Geeks Squads Reviews. My experience with geek squad was not a pleasant one. I already was in a bad mood because of my macbook was having virus problems but when I took it to the local Best Buy/geek Squad they just made matters worse. When they returned my macbook I found that somewhere in the process of them removing the virus' somehow they managed to delete alot of my personal files and photos. I called pretty upset about this and they claimed to not have touched any of those files. But I know that they were there when I delivered the computer to them. I ended up having to find another recovery service (secureremotesupport[dot]com) to mop up after the Geek Squads mess. I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with the Geek Squad. I am tired of these BIG corporations who advertise repair service and then completely screw their customers. So thanks Geek Squad, it's finals week and you have forced me to spend money I can't afford and to have to rewrite a ton of my work. more

Geek Squad too pricey 3/15/2010

About a week ago I noticed my internet was acting really slow. I rebooted my computer, I power cycled my modem and cleared out all my junk folders. And it still was acting like I was on dial up internet. I called my ISP and that didn't fix the problem but the support tech asked me about if my wireless was secured. I had no idea what he was talking about and asked how do I tell? He then recommended I locate a networking/repair business. I then got on my phone and looked up some business'. I ended up calling Geek Squad or Nerd troop or whatever it is. I was told it would $129 just to come out and look at it and it would be a week before they could send someone out. I looked around some more for someone who could do it sooner when I came across a consumer review of secureremotesupport[dot]com. I read that they were fast knowledgeable and didn't need to come to my house. Needless to say I called and asked some questions. The technician seemed very empathetic to my situation and said he could fix it in a couple of hours. And sure enough in under 2 hours it was fixed. I just sat back and watched him control and repair my computer from his location. The whole thign was really painless and it cost less than the other guy's ""appearance fee"". more
