Fantastic Service 8/8/2011

My computer was very slow and old, and I called geek choice to clean it up and get it up to speed. Within 5 minutes the tech was nice enough to let me know that my 8 year old computer was very outdated and not worth the $400 it would cost to get it upgraded. He set me up with Joe, who found me a new PC for only $500, and they were nice enough to come back out and transfer over my files too! What a great service. more

Be aware 6/15/2011

Did you notice that most of the 5 stars rating came from people with very low computer technical knowledge who are very happy that they came to their places super fast? My experience: in summary, if you need somebody to run an antivirus or clean your system a little bit, you may be safe. If you think that's worth 100 bucks per hour. They do have good technicians. At least one. The one who came to help me the second time and in a matter of minutes diagnosed a faulty hard disk did know what he was doing. He charged $75, but he found the issue with my PC. However, if you are unlucky, may end up with someone like the one who came the first time... removed something here, delete this, clean that, try to work around something without attacking the root of the issue. Never was able to find an issue with my hard drive (which the other guy found immediately), charged me $100 and did not fix my PC. The worst part? When I called Geek Choice about it they said they would give me a $100 credit for future services. Hey but what if I do not want any further services from you? Well, though luck, the first guy did help speeding up a bit your PC.... but he did not fix it! well he fixed it a little bit, so it's gotta be worth 100 bucks... no, even the second technician said that he didn't really do anything... well that's our final decision, if you don't like it you are free to write a complaint. ... Thanks a lot. I will write a few. And a few reviews of the kind that when I see them, I immediately go somewhere else. more

Great techs 5/23/2011

My husband, who is much better with computers than I, was out of town when my machine crashed. I was on a deadline and was stuck, but Geek choice came out just 3 hours after I called, and now my computer?s in better shape than ever. It?s good to know that there?s a good, reputable computer service company that I can call on in times like these. more

What a helpful bunch of Geeks 4/4/2011

I had a whole task list for my Geek Choice PC repair technician and he ran through them one by one. He also showed me how to use my all in one printer, which I never could fully grasp until then. These people are the real deal. more

WE LOVE OUR CUSTOMERS ... UNTIL THEY PAY US 1/13/2011

Thinking about getting your computer repaired on a budget? I recommend going elsewhere. Here's why: I called Geek Choice to replace a broken motherboard with a new one I had purchased. The technician they sent was nice, but he was unable to help me, since the replacement board required that I also purchase a new processor. The technician recommended a place (Microcenter in Cambridge) where I could buy a processor and have the repairs done. He then told me that he would see about getting me a discount on the $100 charges Geek Choice wanted for my appointment, since he had not been able to make a repair. Because of that offer, I chose not to use a $25 coupon I had gotten from their brochure. Big mistake. I never heard anything about that discount, and the charges came through on my card. A week and a half later I called Geek Choice to explain my situation. By this point, I'd already had my computer repaired by Microcenter. I'd paid them $60 for the repair, while simultaneously paying $100 to Geek Choice for having recommended Microcenter. Naturally, this seemed a little disproportionate, and I expected Geek Choice to sympathize, offering (at the least) to accept the $25 coupon that I would have used had I not been misled. I spoke with their representative (she was very nice also) and was told that I would be contacted in the future about that discount. I provided my cell phone number and my email address. I never heard from anyone at Geek Choice again. To be clear, I'm not complaining about the personalities of Geek Choice employees. Nor am I calling into question the quality of their services (which I never had the chance to witness). Instead, I'm attacking the atrocious way they do business. Geek Choice's BLATANT DISREGARD for a customer's inquiry is the antithesis of good practice in the services industry. I would have understood if they'd provided a good reason for not giving me a break. But apparently, I ceased being a valued customer once they'd collected their money. I won't be returning to Geek Choice, and will be active in dissuading friends from wasting their own savings on a company that doesn't respect it's customers enough to tell them directly that they can't have a discount. more

Great Service! 10/7/2010

I only know enough about computers to be dangerous, so when I got a computer virus, I didn't know what to do. I called Geek Choice and Mary Ann had a tech out to me that same day. My issue was resolved within an hour and a half. Thanks Geek Choice! more

It's good 10/19/2009

I live out in the middle of nowhere, so you can imagine how shocked I was when Geek Choice said they would still send someone out here. He came right at the time I scheduled, and he was as nice a gentleman as you can find. I am very satisfied with this company. Pros: Problem Solved Cons: What drawbacks? more

Great place to get your computer fixed 10/14/2009

My daughter just had a wedding, and all of the photos I took were on a computer that crashed. My husband called Geek Choice, since they had once visited and configured a network in the office he works at. Although we had to completely re-install everything, the technician was able to recover the pictures from the wedding. I will always thank Geek Choice for that. Pros: Fast and friendly service Cons: Maybe a little too fast more
