This has to be the worst experience I have ever had with any business or doctor. After a friend of a family member of mine recommended this doctor to us, both my family member and myself went to have our eyes measured, accompanied by my husband. I had an appointment first - my family member gave me a ride and my husband came along. We were at first thought it was a little odd that everyone else in the waiting room was over 60 and white. Well, there is a reason for it.
I had to wait more than an hour for my appointment. The receptionist made some very questionable and racist comments to my husband, who is ethnically mixed and looks hispanic. For instance, after he asked her for a glass of water for me, she tried to accuse him of shooting up or something, which is outrageous and offensive (we are very anti-drug) and was clearly based on the color of his skin. I, who look racially ambigious to some, didn't have my eyes measured by the usual doctor - instead I got shafted onto his less-white colleage. When the real doctor who I had an appointment with finally saw me he acted like I had some kind of disease and was quite rude. In fact, everyone there was rude. My relative had her appointment a few week later and the doctor measured her eyes so badly that when she received her extremely overpriced glasses (200 dollars!!!) she could not even see out of them - the prescription was all wrong and they weren't even the bifocals she needed! Then, a week after they send me a bill for an extra 25.00 on top of the 167.00 I had already paid them when services were rendered. My relative, who is clearly white, was charged only 125.00 for the same services. I guess because I look a bit hispanic and because my husband is clearly non-white I got charged more. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR - YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED AND DISCRIMINATED AGAINST!!! When I went back to refute the extra charge, the doctors basically told me tough luck. My grandmother managed to get a refund for the glasses after an hour of waiting and another hour of haggling. We threatened to call Better Business Bureau, and they laughed at us and told us to go right ahead. We just might.
