Best

As a former afternoon drunk I can attest that the 'Happy Hour' has the strongest drinks on the planet and cheap, too. An alcoholics mecca, indeed! Whether you haven't visited t...

Worst

The title "Gay 90's" gives false pretense to what it actually is. More straight people frequent here than gay. The drag shows are good but drinks are too strong. I appreciate t...

Fun and relaxed 1/16/2003

The 90's has awesome DJs most nights, good dancing, good booze and some of the most fun people in the city with whom you may hang out. Check the drag shows if you haven't. more

Not Gay Enough? Get Over It! 12/30/2002

The Gay 90's on a Sunday night is predominately gay boys (of the 18-20 set) and their "hags". During the rest of the week, it is predominately a straight bar. Not gay friendly? That's crap! Straight people going to the club realize it's called the GAY 90's and are generally accepting of that. You want a full on gay bar? Try the Saloon on Thursday nights. Pros: Drag Show, People, Strong Drinks Cons: Drama more

Iffy 12/15/2002

Great place to see drag, best shows in town. Have had mixed experiences there. Needs to clean up a bit. Somtimes it is more of a straight bar. If there was a more diverse gay/lesbian crowd the atmosphere might be better. There is a lot of empty areas and space. Always watch your drink, security should be beefed up a tad bit. Pros: Drag shows, People Watching Cons: Parking, Rough Area more

Fun for all 12/12/2002

I have been going to the Gay 90's for about three years and have an awesome time everytime. I always go to watch the drag shows. Although this means arriving extra early in order to get a seat. It can get super crowded in the La Femme lounge. I do think they need to think about more seating. The bathrooms definately need repair. I have eaten there too and the food had been great. The techno music in the dance room can get annoying. The 90's has a great blend of gay and straight people. I do believe it is mostly gay though. It's is fun for all. Pros: strong drinks, entertainment, Inexpensive cover Cons: small La Femme lounge, bathrooms need help more

Unique and Fun 11/27/2002

I had a great time at the Gay 90's. Some people thought that is wasn't Gay enough, but I felt that any person could have a great time regardless of their individual differences. It was perfect for anyone who wants to have a good time like no other. Definitley check out the Drag Show. more

gay? since when? 11/15/2002

This bar hasn't been Gay (capital "G") since 1993. Went back for the first time in years and it was worse than expected. Staff (security and bartenders) are rude. Drag show is good (for a city the size of Rochester). And the crowd looked as "gay" as the Metrodome on a Sunday. What is that smell in there???????? Pros: strong drinks Cons: smelly, old, straight more

The 90's comes into the 00's 8/22/2002

This place has been a popular gathering spot for people of all persasions for many years. And continues to be a fun place to hang. more

I use to love the Gay 90's until I got g 8/8/2002

I use to love the Gay 90's until I got grabbed twice in the chest. Ok..I thought this place was GAY??? Anywayz, the dancing here use to ROCK..and then it kind of went down hill. What's up with the music??? The R&B room is good except the dance floor is to small. I LOVE the drag queens...they're the BEST. The techno side is REALLY lame...get a NEW DJ!!! The place is cool and LARGE...but it needs to get packed again... Pros: VARIETY, Drag Queens, lots of rooms Cons: MUSIC, MUSIC, Not many people more

Fantaboulistic 8/7/2002

I like the Gay 90's because it is a fun atmosphere; the performers throw everything they have into the performances, and they make it fun for4 the audiences as well. Lots of fun to be had watching the drag shows there. :-) Pros: fun crowds, fun-loving staff Cons: parking, not so roomy at times more

So...1996 5/13/2002

This place used to be happening, now, it's just pathetic. Overrun by suburbanites and few, if any, gay people frequent the 90s anymore. Head to the Saloon or Boom if you are looking for gay men. more
