What's in here? 1/9/2012

I'm a great Yu-Gi-Oh fan and I'm looking for places where I can find cheaper prices on booster boxes than the internet, maybe. So I came by here and saw the quite difference with the good and bad reviews. So I live kinda far so I don't want to loos my gas on going over there and not getting out satisfied. So my questions are do you have boxes like ""Shadow of Infinity"", ""Hidden Arsenal 5"", Duelist Pack Yugi"", ""Duelist Pack Kaiba""? Maybe? or the ""Gold Series 4: Pyramid Edition"", ""Retro Pack"" 1 & 2, and ""Dark Beginnings 1"". I'd appreciate it for some early info before I go over there. Thanks! more

Great Store....Kid Friendly 12/13/2011

What a great place to bring your child....The owner is awesome with children and tries to provide a good, safe atmosphere to bring your child into the store....There are times that parents will leave there childeren while they shop and then come back later....Him and his girlfriend are always willing to help children and young adults in building their Yugioh or Pokemon decks and are available to teach them a new game. They are both dedicated in what they do..... Thank you more

Owner is a thief--plain and simple 10/19/2010

I mailed Jose Magic cards several years ago based on his internet posted buylist. I had first contacted his in-store agent approving the sale. I then mailed the cards--his store received them, and they never paid for it. I live several states away so suing here doesn't make sense, but he absolutely ripped me off for several hundred dollars worth of cards. He mentioned several times in emails that he would ""settle up"" but it never happened. I can't imagine he is a better man now, I assume he is still ripping folks off around the world. more

Not the cleanest place in the world but... 7/6/2010

Reading all of your reviews made me a little confused. It is a small shop loaded with over priced merchandise and cheap trade in values, but there is a value to it. The first time I went to this store, Jose (the owner you all claim isn't anywhere to be found) was out in the front and talking to us by the way, was to buy a box of magic cards with a friend so we could run a few at home drafts and they were out. Figures, they wouldn't have what we were looking for. We ended up just having Jose order one for us (we didn't have cards at the time so we couldn't do so online) and it was there within two days. We picked it up there and he told us to come back and tell him what we pulled. We went back a few days later with our new and improved decks from the box he sold us and sat down and started to play. Within 2 rounds Jose was out and watching us play. By the end of that round he asked us if we pulled anything good. From that point on we went to The Gathering place every weekend with some form of game and stayed there hanging out with Jose until the wee hours of the morning. The shop hours may be listed, but in my experiences on weekends, those hours rarely exist. It was a great place to go to get out of the house. Jose also lives a few hours away from the shop, so he isn't there from time to time because of that. Pros: Fun game nights Cons: Small, Over Priced, Dirty more

answer the phone! 7/4/2010

I would love to take my son to this business to play in Tournaments and shop but they do not answer the phones. We have called numerous times for a whole week and only once did we ever get someone to answer. Just rings and rings. ANSWER YOUR PHONES GATHERING PLACE! Pros: say they have Yu Gi Oh tournaments Cons: they do not answer their phone more

Great store 5/2/2010

While looking up the hours for this store I came across these reviews and just had to comment. I live in Casselberry, near several card shops and game stores- The Gathering Place is hands down one of the best. Yes, it is in fact, a tiny store. The crappy Chinese place down the road is cheap and easy and great for long tourneys. This store is in no way overpriced. I have been trading MTG Cards for a little over five years now and know the value of most by heart... unless it is a rare or hard to find card expect to pay a fair price for it, and don't expect to get a ton of cash for your old crappy cards- that is not how trading works. I noticed a user down there complaining about the Owner, Jose. The guy is great- he has an office, in the back of the store so he can keep an eye on things- and yes, he does spend a lot of time in it. When you consider the guy does international wholesale across the world, has other stores including this one you come to realize he is understandable busy. Yes, the store is Tiny, but a lot of people are unaware there are tables in back for the older crowd- he keeps the kids up front to minimize theft and roughhousing- pretty good reason IMO. All in all it's a great store, with fair prices- just don't expect to walk in with a stack of crappy cards and get a ton of money, they aren't looking for ""100% profit"" they are looking to not loose money while still providing a safe area for kids to meet and play. Pros: HUGE selection, good people Cons: Tiny store, too many good people more

good, yet not so good 4/17/2010

I've been to this store about 5 time now. Now it isn't all bad, but still is. For one the place is very dirty, dosent seem like the owner cleans up the place. Talkin about the owner, where is he. You hardly ever seem him unless they're short on staff. Back to dirty, since the only place there is to eat is a crappy chinnese resturant next door, thats all the store smells like, plus a dirty oder of i dont know what. They do have a big selection of mercahndise, the problem, its all high prices. They do host tournaments with prizes which is a +. But htats about it. I'm trying to find a diffrent place closer. There is cool stuff games on aloma, but I've never heard or been there. Pros: only place where you can find card game players and cards Cons: tiny store, never see owner, to many rules, high prices more

Bring your gold and silver! 1/8/2009

To be honest it isn't the best place to bring your kids. Not only is the placed cramped but the type of people that attend here wouldn't think twice about speaking badly in front of kids. This isn't my main gripe, your biggest problem is walking out of this place with any merchandice. Not only do they have overpirced trading cards (around 30 %) but you would have to give an arm and a leg if you want to trade in for them. When trading in, their idea of ""profit"" is a little over 100%!! Other than that, if you would like a place to hang with a bunch of mild mannered teenagers then this is the place to go. Don't make the mistake of going there as a customer. Pros: You don't have to take a shower to attend this place! Cons: Prices are through the roof, try to scam traders, more

Tiny, smells, bad customer service 4/12/2008

The store is tiny and cramped. It's poorly ventilated and smells from the people in there. It's gross! When there's a bottle of Febreeze at the front counter, that's saying something. The owner hides in a locked office and never talks to his customers--just wants people to come in, leave their money, and leave. Everything is at full retail, no discounting. The employees are rude and short with customers. Everywhere you look, you see signs threatening to ban people. All in all, not a friendly place to go to. Coolstuff (just down the road, on Aloma) has a bigger store, way better prices on games, and the owners take pride in their store's appearance and smell. Go there instead. You'll be happy. Pros: It's small, so you can get out fast! Cons: Nasty store conditions, lousy owner, price gouging, rude employees more

Best collectibles shop in Fl 5/25/2006

Great place and great service, well worth going there for all of your TCG needs and more. Pros: Inexpensive, Lots of people, Fun Cons: Too many choices, Didn't want to leave more
