Gates & Sons Bar-B-Q

Gates is my favorite BBQ restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. The service is good and the food is excellent. I enjoy going there for lunch and ordering the ham on bun with a side of onion rings. Their onion rings are the best that I have ever had. You need to arrive close to 11:00 a.m. if you are wanting to go there for lunch, they get busy quick. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! more

There's barbecue, then there's Gates. More than just a good place to grab a bite to eat, Gates is more on the order of a cultural icon in the world of barbecuing. The original Gates BarBQ location is down in the city, but has expanded as the Kansas City area has grown into suburbia. Nonetheless, the Gates family has grown the business and kept the old-school values that put it on the map in the first place. When you go, you'll see plenty of traditional BBQ fare as menu offerings, but don't kid yourself, YOU ARE THERE FOR THE RIBS. Repeat after me: I'll take the slab. Please. Gates is one of the best BBQ places in the USA, and so you have to say the world. Gates used to be #1 on my list but the competition is pretty hot these days. Gates has raised thier prices and so I cant say they are #1 due to the premium cost. The ribs are the best in Kansas city! We always get the presidential platter and our family of four eats it and there is usually left overs. Again,great place, but a little costly. more
