I was actually pretty terrified to get my wisdom teeth pulled and even tried to avoid it for a few years. I have had many friends who have had bad experiences in having their wisdom teeth taken out. I had a couple friends who were in pain for weeks and others who were bruised and miserable for a good few days. Turns out, I only had to have the bottom two removed but it didn't help my fear in knowing that they were impacted. Dr. Gass took great care in reassuring me that the process would be quick and the recovery less painful than I was expecting. Nevertheless, I was still pretty anxious up until the day of the surgery to the point of tears. However, his wonderful staff took a few extra moments to smile and chat with me to help alleviate some nervousness. Dr. Gass was also quick in noticing my nerves and did what he could to make me smile and relax. To be honest, despite how nervous I was, I don't remember much of what happened; it all went by so fast. After receiving the IV, I remember Dr. Gass saying to me, ""the hardest part is over"" and the next thing I knew, I was awake in the recovery room and it was all over! I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was. As expected, I was a little uncomfortable the first few days, but it was all bearable. It also touched me that Dr. Gass took the time to call me personally the next day to make sure I was recovering well and to ask if there was anything I needed. There is no doubt that Dr. Gass is a capable, honest, and experienced oral surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend him to any individual in need of oral surgery :o). more

A BIG THANK YOU to you Dr. Gass & your wonderful staff. Three of my four children had their wisdom teeth extracted by you and then it was time for the fourth. I listened as her siblings told her how easy it would be. Telling her, an x-ray would first be taken to determine the position of the teeth & to view the bone. An assistant would take her back to the surgery room, the doctor would start some nitrous oxide, she would feel a little ""silly"", he would then start an IV in her arm and then.............that's the last thing they remembered before waking up and finding him smiling down at them. My youngest daughter had hers removed and now has had the same wonderful experience the other three had. She said, ""everyone at school told me it would be so horrible, and it wasn't."" I appreciated the time you took to make sure she was comfortable with what would be occurring. She had little discomfort the next couple days. Also, a thank you to your attentive staff who stayed right with her in recovery & walked us out to the car upon leaving. Your dedication to excellence speaks for itself. more

After experiencing discomfort with one of my teeth I was informed that I needed to have a tooth pulled. As with most people I had a number of questions about my procedure and what my future options would be after it was finished. I had expected such questions to be addressed by Dr. Donald Gass. I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out a few days ago, and the whole experience with Dr Gass and his staff has been quick and wonderful. I was very nervous at first because I have had bad dental experiences in the past, but their office put me at ease. The reason I decided to go here is because he accepts Tricare, the military insurance, which was quite surprising for how nice his office is, usually tricare sends you to somebody cheap looking. I called to get a consultation, and they got me in to do the consultation and extraction the very next day. When i showed up, the staff got me back in less than 10 minutes, Dr Gass came in and looked at my x-rays and asked me if i wanted to go to sleep during the procedure, and I said sure! Most people make a big deal out of putting you to sleep, but he said that is what he usually does. I also wanted to go to him because I knew he gives a big variety of options for anesthetics. I just figured I would receive Versed through an IV, but he gave me a great combination of medications so that I was asleep throughout the procedure, and that made it so much better! He seemed a little in a hurry and not extremely explanatory or congenial when he did the consultation, but his staff was very friendly and explanatory, so that made up for it. They took me in the back after they determined the price, and the lady in the back was very sweet and friendly. They gave me an IV (and also numbed the site before the stick), and I don't remember anything after that. It seemed to be only about 10 minutes and I was being assisted into a lounge chair where I relaxed for about 10 minutes ,and then I was riding home. The whole experience was very wonderful for the circumstance, I am grateful for Dr Gass and his staff making this as smooth as possible. It has only been 30 hrs since my surgery and I feel pretty great. I received a good antibiotic and a pain killer and I will be going back to work tomorrow! Thanks a bunch!
