What a fabulous hidden gem! If you are looking for a dinning experience that is all inclusive (the food, the ambiance, the service), The Gas Lamp is the place to go! This brother and sister duo are obviously passionate about what they do.
The menu is limited but that is because everything that they concoct has that certain attention to detail that is impossible to achieve with a larger menu. The ahi and garlic bleu cheese bread appetizers are delectable, the salads were a melody of complex tastes and textures. The caprese salad had such the perfect farmer's market tomatoes that I was tempted to order another and call it good. Our entrees were just as amazing - my husband could not believe he was ordering a pork chop, but this is NOT your average pork chop. The steel-head w/ wasabi mash potatoes was a perfect combination. Our meal was finished with a chocolate torte with a side of homemade toffee ice cream that we forced ourselves to eat for sheer taste alone despite the protesting grumbles from our overly stuffed stomachs. ;) Each course was paired with the perfect beverage and that brings us to SERVICE!
It is rare that you find a restaurant that pays as much attention to the food they serve as well as to the employees they hire and ambiance that is created. This is what separates The Gas Lamp from the rest! The knowledge of what pairs with a particular dish was an attention to detail that made the dinning experience that much more enjoyable. The servers, as well as the two chefs, are personable, knowledgeable, and what's more, they know the fine line between enhancing the experience and what can easily become overbearing and intrusive.
If you are a food connoisseur, you are in for a pleasant fête!
