Glamorous it's not, but Livermore's Garré is home to solid wines. The tasting room is a small structure plopped in the middle of fields (soon to be vineyards) at the end of a dirt road. There is a historic farmhouse on the property currently undergoing renovation. It will emerge as a Mediterranean-style restaurant and deli. If you have children in tow, the sprawling lawn out front is a nice spot for them to run around and expend some energy.Winemaker Dennis Johnson crafts the big four wines Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The reds are pleasant, but inaugural efforts on the whites are very impressive. Tasting notes:
