Hidden Treasure in New Smyrna Beach 11/7/2011

The Garlic experience begins in the parking with a variety of herb beds and continues as patrons head towards the hostess desk under a canopy of trees with thousands of white lights! Dinners are reminded of the Tuscany country side as they pass by a walled olde world fireplace into the dinning room. The food is delicious - have not ordered a bad meal. more

We had a great experience! 10/29/2007

After reading the last review, I was almost turned off from going to this restaurant. We too, eat at Amura, Fishbones and Normans at Ritz Carlton on occasion. But I'm glad I wasn't and went regardless. The food was exceptional and the ambiance was great. Lighted trees on a patio and a outdoor tuscan fire place. Our server was knowledgeable about the dishes. although he made a few minor eras, he was polite, friendly and helpful. Everything was made with fresh ingredients. The bread came warm, fresh and delicious with a smashed roasted garlic clove. (your not kissing anyone after you have some of that) and puttenesca sauce(spicy) was great was well, It was kid friendly enough, in the way they had high chairs and booster seats. Although being a parent of three, I carried my own crayons and books which helped. Our server was great too, he places our kids entree in early, so they didn't have to wait long. My husband had the Clams Blanco, which was so flavorful, he was dipping his bread in the sauce. with had tons of minced galic and fresh herbs. The calamari was great, too. It was perfectly cooked, nice and soft, but not underdone.(not overcooked, and chewy). Pros: Ambiance and great food, live music, too Cons: no kids crayons and paper, but you can just bring your own more

Poor service, Average food, Great Atmosphere...The Garlic. 5/18/2007

I normally eat at places like Stonewood, Fish Bone, Amura, and even Carrabas from time to time. So when a friend suggested trying The Garlic my family and I decided to be adventurous. I was so disgusted with their inability to provide adequate service or to serve the correct order that I went to the car to wait until my wife had paid. My wife spoke with the manager and it seems that there head chef had not come in as scheduled. This apparently left their kitchen in a chaotic state and apologized (not about the lack of service) for my meal. I guess their Sous Chef couldn?t handle the kitchen or was also missing. This was the first and last time I?ll ever eat at this particular establishment. Nor would I suggest eating there to any of my friends. Maybe I just went on one particular bad night but, first impressions are always the most important. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Lack of professional service. Such as waiters ogling a table of girls and ignoing other tables. more
