The outside of the building is deceiving I almost didnt want to go in. Once you walk into the door your mood changes immediately. Very nice atmosphere, quiet, comfortable not squished between tables. This was my 1st time at Gari of Sushi and I was very impressed. Free miso soup to every customer which was great The selection of rolls was refreshing. They have special rolls with pictures, and a full typed page of sushi rolls (big rolls, not 4 bites) I dont like spicy, they had big selection of non spicy sushi as well as a big selection of spicy. My bf and I got 4 rolls and 6 pieces it was about 50$ which I found a fair price if not low for the amount and quality of sushi we got! We tried Chiso (said to be best sushi in Seattle) and I wasnt impressed for the same price as Gari we only got 3 rolls (about 4 bites of sushi each roll) and 3 pieces. While the fish was fresh and good there wasnt much of a selection of rolls. If you like CA rolls Gari has these and ?step-up? rolls that are CA rolls with different fishes inside/outside of the roll to help a new sushi eater ease into REAL sushi! I didnt try any of these but it looked amazing. This is honestly the best sushi Ive ever had in WA and I want to become a regular. My bf and I went to Gari on a Thursday at about 7pm there was 3 or 4 couples there, men/women eating after work. Anyone that came in/out the chief, the owner and waitress all said hi/bye with a smile and said thank you, this made me feel very welcomed and as if they truly cared. While we were there 3 more parties came in and 1 person at the bar, and then a party of 2 came in and the owners lit up and instead of the regular hi they said hey! With a chuckle and the 2 responded the same. They looked to be regulars it was a nice enviro to sit at. I dont know if we got there at a good time but even after more people came it didnt seem too full and there was more seating behind a wall. I cant wait to go to Gari of Sushi again so I can experience new rolls.
Pros: selection, atmosphere, parking, location, fresh fish
Cons: like most sushi places a little slow. but worth it!
