Editorial review from Citysearch 1/7/2014

Garden Manor is our ""go-to"" place for New Year's Eve. They have all of the comforts of home within walking distance of our favorite bars and restaurants. Breakfast on New Year's morning is always outstanding. Couldn't imagine a better place to end or begin a year! more

Poor Hospitality!!! 10/16/2010

Don't judge this book by its cover!!! It is a beautiful place inside and out, but the innkeepers were severely lacking in people skills. Only God's grace kept them from totally ruining my son's wedding. When I arrived at the front door, the ""host"" finally opened the door and just stared at my sisters and me. No ""good afternoon"" , ""welcome to Garden Manor"", no introduction of himself ~~ just a stare. When I identified myself as the groom's mother and said I had brought the wedding flowers ~ he looked disdainfully at the cooler and said ""what else is in there?"" just flowers. He said ... ""no, what else is in there?"" Just flowers. ""no water?'' no ~~ ""OK I guess you can bring it in here"". Never a word of welcome. His wife was equally ungracious to my sister who had gone around back to try and see where we should take the flowers. I could go on and on as this lack of common courtesy continued throughout the evening. The food was delicious, but their treatment of family and friends left a terrible taste in our mouths and knots in our stomachs. Be warned! Make sure you have a STRONG wedding coordinator to act as a buffer. The lady of the manor even told the minister SHE was running the show!!! more

What a wonderful experience! We were in Grapevine for a business trip and were thrilled with this beautiful B and B! The owners were kind and accomodating, the rooms fabulous, clean and very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious! I can't wait to go back! Pros: Beautiful, clean, very comfortable and accomodating Cons: none! more

Southern Hospitality at it's Best 6/14/2009

I had a wonderful 2 night stay in May, 2009 at this beautiful home... It was so peaceful and such lovely gardens in which to walk, sit, read, etc. Just a short walk to the historic district and it's shops and eateries, too. The owner/hostess is such a gracious lady who made the most delicious breakfasts.... oh, those buttermilk biscuits! She made me feel so at home here & my room was so large, spacious & clean, with large walk-in closet & refrigerator with water and soft drinks. The lower and upper verandas were great places to sit ( I loved swing downstairs) and could surf the net there, too with the free high speed wireless service. I felt very safe and secure there . And do hope I get to go back real soon ! Pros: delicious breakfasts/ gracious owner/hostess/ historic area more

Very romantic 5/11/2009

My wife and I celebrated our 18th anniversary here. Very romantic and reasonable for a B&B. I highly recommend staying here. Pros: Great accomodations, food and service more

Wonderful experience! 4/13/2009

We will be recommending GM to our friends! We spent our 32nd anniversary at Garden Manor this past March. It was everything we had hoped for and more! The weather was chilly so we did not get to enjoy the gardens like we had wanted, but everything else was wonderful. Read the rest of the reviews and believe them!! Only one bad review in all, but there are always disgruntled customers! more

Great Place for Couples and Relaxation 4/5/2009

The owner/hostess is wonderful and so very friendly. The location is fantastic for those looking to walk to historic downtown Grapevine and it's wine tasting shops. Pros: Great Beds and Great Breakfast Cons: N/A more

Comfort, relaxing, quaint 3/17/2009

This is a fabulous B&B with comfy beds and fabulous coffee. We had a great night's sleep there. Plus, the town of Grapevine is great for an early morning walk. I highly recommend this place! more

Superb hospitality! 3/11/2009

We reserved all four rooms for family to gather to celebrate my son's birthday. Every room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. Each room had a mini fridge that was stocked with the preferences Judy asked about when I made the reservation. Service was excellent, including the chocolates on the bed every day and the information about restaurants and attractions within walking distance. The food was delicious and included fresh fruit, croissants, quiche, and orange juice that tasted like it was fresh squeezed. The weather was cold while we were there so I would love to go back when it's warmer to partake of the veranda and the beautiful garden grounds. Pros: Excellent service and hospitality. Lots of nearby shopping, dining, and attractions. more

Very welcoming 1/12/2009

Our first stay here was great -- we'll definitely recommend it to others. Especially liked their ""express"" check-in that allowed us to come and go as we pleased. Room was very comfortable and nicely decoreated. It was too cold to be outside but the gardens and the porches look lovely -- hope we can see them next time. Breakfast was yummy and Judy graciously got theconversation rolling so we really enjoyed visiting with the other guests. I'd definitely recommend it! more

Very Relaxing Atmosphere 11/20/2008

This was my third visit to the Grapevine, Texas area to attend an annual training seminar. On the other two visits I stayed in typical hotel rooms. The Garden Manor Inn was much more pleasant! The house is beautiful - Judy had just decorated for the Christmas season. There are only four rooms to rent, all upstairs and each with a private bath. My room was very comfortable - especially the mattress. Judy goes out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. She asks about any preferences you may have for breakfast and stocks the mini refrigerator in each room with your favorite soft drinks and bottled water! The towels are so much better than hotel grade, and stored on warming towel bars. The inn is one block away from the historic downtown area, which includes unique shops, winery stores, and several restaurants. Definitely a place to visit again! Pros: Priced competitively, breakfast included, walking distance to shopping & dining, cozy atmosphere Cons: No temperature controls in each room (other than ceiling fan) more

Perfect spot 10/13/2008

If you are wanting to enjoy Grapevine, this is the place. Great location, wonderful grounds and comfortable rooms. I walked to all restaurants. I was in the area for work and all of my coworkers - who stayed at the Gaylord Texan-were jealous I found this spot. Room rate was very competitive. Breakfast--Judy knows how to start the day right! more

A must stay for your trip to Grapevine 9/3/2008

The Garden Manor is where we stay eveytime we visit Grapevine. It is a lovely home with beautifully kept grounds, we love sitting out on the veranda sipping vino in the rocking chairs at night! It is everything we want and look for in a B&B! Judy is an awesome cook and the breakfast will keep you coming back for sure!!! more

INNKEEPER HAS THE PATIENCE OF A SAINT 11/19/2007

We just had a wonderful 2-night stay at Garden Manor Inn. The home inside and out was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The rooms are furnished smartly without being fussy, and the breakfasts were delicious! We love the location, just a block from Main Street with all kinds of restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms. However, there was a situation that occurred during our stay, and it was all I could do to keep my husband in our room! Another couple staying there returned to their room around 10 pm, accompanied by some friends who apparently live in the area. They were very loud and boisterous, but we kept thinking they were just saying their good-nights and things would quiet down soon. Unfortunately it just went on and on, until we finally called the owners about the racket. When Judy tried to talk to the people about the noise, the men became very belligerent. Judy asked if they could all go downstairs and out on the porch to discuss situation, but the people just wouldn't listen to reason. Rather than just ask his visitors to leave, or all of them return to one of the bars to continue their party, the husband said they were checking out. He went into great detail about how he and his wife would blast negative reviews throughout Internet on ?their horrible experience"". Throughout Judy listened, tried to talk but couldn?t complete a sentence. They finally left at 11 pm. The following morning at breakfast we told Judy how impressed we were with her patience and that we would be sure to write our wonderful reviews about Garden Manor! She was very apologetic for the noise. When my husband said he hoped that they paid a premium rate for their stay, Judy shared that she had not charged them. That was very gracious, considering the circumstances. It is unfortunate that B&B owners open to their home to the public and some guests show such total disrespect, not to mention their insensitivity to others staying there too. Pros: Close to shopping, restaurants, and other entertainment Cons: None come to mind more

best B&B around....for business or personal travellers 10/10/2007

Everything was wonderful at the Garden Manor. I felt so much at home. It was a very peaceful & relaxed atmosphere. My room was spotless & the hospitality/service incredible. Judy definitely went above & beyond - everything was wonderful. Breakfasts were delicious...Judy is a great cook. It was fun to talk with her - she makes you feel very welcome and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Every day, Judy brought fresh towels, made up the bed & put chocolate truffles on the pillow.....very nice! High speed internet access was available, plush robe available, stocked mini-fridge (Judy asked me what I liked to drink ahead of time & it was in there when I got there), the room & inn was spotless. I would recommend this B&B to business travelers....it beats any hotel by far. I would also recommend it to people looking for a get-away....it's perfect. It's close to Main Street with it's restaurants & cute shops. It is charming! more

quiet and relaxing 7/23/2007

My husband and I had a great time at Garden Manor. It was nice to rest and relax on the Veranda, and the garden was beautiful! Judy is a very sweet lady and was very willing to visit with us about restaraunts, things to do, and even called a cab for us when it was time for us to go. She is a wonderful cook. It was delicious! She stocks the mini fridge with sodas and water for you and she had a turn down service with wonderful chocolates that are made locally. The location is great. It is right around the corner from historic downtown Grapevine. There is plenty to do in Grapevine with shops of all kinds, restaraunts, and historical markers. The rooms are beautiful and clean. Ours had a whirlpool bathtub, towel warmer, queen size bed, tv, and lots of channels to watch. Judy is great to work with you on breakfast times, if you need to leave early. It is a beautiful home and I'm glad they shared it with us! Pros: quiet and relaxing, lots to do and see Cons: I forgot my hairdryer, and there were none in the room. But, thats my fault more

garden manor 7/12/2007

I really liked this place. We stayed here and then went to Bass pro Shops, the museum, and the shops on main street. She was really nice and the rooms were very clean and stocked well. We liked the truffles so much we went over to the chocolate shop and stocked up with extras to take home--what a lovely place to stay! Pros: easy to find, nice big porches, good food Cons: no pets or younger children more

The best little Bed and Breakfast in Texas! 7/9/2007

This is such an amazing place! My husband and I have stayed here multiple times as have my parents...Garden Manor is so beautiful with its hard wood floors, antiques, exquisite landscaping, and unique decorations...definitely not your run of the mill b&b. I'm surprised at the earlier review...Judy has showed our family nothing but gracious hospitality going out of her way to make sure we comfortable and everything was to our liking. My thought is maybe the earlier reviewer is one of those types that can't be pleased with anything. If judging by her guest books means anything 99.9% love the experience! We've stayed in 2 of the 4 rooms (can't wait to try the other 2). One had a deep clawfoot tub and heated towel racks. The other had a luxurious jetted tub. We had free beverages in our mini fridge and hand made truffles in a sweet little gift box on our bed. We roamed her gardens (which are fantastic with the twinkly lights and shopped the unique shops just steps away. There is a winery nearby where we bought wine and sipped it on the porch. We even attended a wedding held there and it was breath-taking! I would highly recommend this beautiful inn to anyone who wants to ""get away from it all""... Pros: great ambience, the service was outstanding, privacy, romantic, the herbal soaps were wonderful! Cons: The only cons are that we can't stay there every night! more

VERY ROMANTIC - We loved it! 6/24/2007

We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a weekend at Garden Manor. A friend of ours stays there often when in the area on business and recommended it to us. I read the negative review posted earlier with interest because it did NOT reflect our experience at all! Upon our arrival, I was immediately captivated by the scented candles, soft lighting, and enchanting decor. The B&B itself is beautiful and serene, and the guestrooms are exceptional. We stayed in the Country French and were delighted with our accommodations. There were free drinks in our closet fridge and chocolate truffles placed on our nightstand each evening. The bathroom was really charming with its old-fashioned claw-foot tub. My husband put one of the big fluffy robes (provide by the Inn) on the towel warmer while I was taking my bath --heavenly! Our room (on the second floor) had a secluded balcony of its own. The first evening we spent at least two hours just relaxing and sipping on wine, feeling like we were in our own private treehouse. The bed was SO comfortable with its lightly scented sheets and feather pillows... We found the owners to be very cordial and interested in making our stay comfortable and fun. I am a vegetarian (& kind of picky, so says my beloved), but my breakfast was wonderful. I had a whole-wheat cereal with pecans, raisins and (I think) dates, while my husband enjoyed his bacon & cheese quiche. Also served were homemade cinnamon rolls and a fruit platter with fresh strawberries, blackberries, bananas & pineapple, and peach yogurt. The second morning there were scrambled eggs w/cheese and sausage (which I skipped but my husband loved), buttermilk biscuits and a fresh fruit/yogurt platter. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend the Inn! Pros: Romantic setting with shady verandas to have wine and relax, great shopping within easy walking distance, and spa across the street for extra indulgence Cons: B&B no longer offers dinner service to guests, but it's just ? block to the historic district with several restaurants more
