We used Freed's Bakery for our wedding cake. Las Vegas was the destination for our wedding which included 12 people total. Freed's was recommended by my stepmother who used them for her wedding several years back. She could not say enough about it. We took her advice and selected the 'Sweetness' cake from the 'Bride on a Budget' selections and were more than delighted. The cake was EXQUISITE, both aesthetically and in taste. We kept a large piece in our hotel fridge for 2 days and it was as amazing as the first bite! Also worth mentioning - we had originally planned on picking up our cake and bringing it to our reception venue. At the last minute (about 4-5 hours before the reception) we pretty much ran out of time and could not get to the bakery. I called and they were able to accomodate delivery for us even with such short notice. I will absolutely return to Freed's for any bakery needs while in the Las Vegas area, I could not have been any happier with our experience. more

This is a great spot when the items are fresh and just out the oven.. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the pastries are to die for! I always bring my nephew here for cookies and cupcakes and he never wants to leave... Keep up the good work! more

We bought a bachelorette cake for my girlfriend. Right before the party, I looked in the box and found it had ""erectile dysfunction"" and was broken. I called at 6pm on Saturday July 3rd and they were able to get a brand new ""erect"" cake to us within the hour! They made the bachelorette party and the customer service was AMAZING! Thank you! Stumbled across this review site for this baker who supplied my wedding cake TWO years ago in Vegas, so I thought I would do them some justice. Because the Wedding cake they supplied to us on our big day was fantastic. As you can probably tell because we still enthuse about it this day, and we still have the topper in our Games room !\r \r We sent off a big thank you e-mail a week after, and we received a really personal touching e-mail from the company. Overall brilliant, as we'd booked all of the details of the order from England , via their website, and it turned up perfectly in our Reception Hotel. Pros: High Quality , V. Good to taste. My fiance and I were looking for a cake maker for our wedding and we tried this place (among others) since we had heard froma few friends that they've been around for a while and have a decent reputation. We checked them out and they ended up being a little too pricey for us. Their cakes were good, but I've had better before. I suppose for a wedding it sorta doesn't matter since everyone will eat it and smile anyway, and it is only once. But, at the same time you don't want to pay a lot for something that you can't tell if it came from a specialized bakery or from a local food grocery store chain. People who have bad experiences in places such as Freed's should express their feelings, but not describe something such as frosting, lousy. The last time I checked Freed's has been family owned for almost 50 years. Grocery stores come and go, so for someone to say that it was absolutely miserable more

My fiancee {now husband!} and I were referred to Joni Freed from a personal friend. She was wonderful!! We tried samples over and over b/c my husband is as picky as they come. We ended up ordering a traditional style cake (""monogram infusion"" in a modified square, you can see it on their website) with completely custom flavors. My friends & family couldn't believe how great it tasted! You can't buy the kind of cake we got anywhere else (it's our secret, and Joni said she'd never ordered one like this), and the price was still unbeatable! I will never order a cake from anywhere else again. Freed's is a Vegas institution for good reason! ***Extra note: the staff at our reception stole the rest of our cake the night of our wedding, so my husband & I only got the bites we took when cutting the cake. I called Joni to order a mini one, and she was so kind as to custom-make us a mini cake with our custom flavors at no charge! I can't promise she'll do this for you, but I had to note it since it is SO above and beyond our expectations. I <3 Freed's! more

I attended the four annual Chocolate Affair put on by a local radio station and Freed's Bakery and a few others were there. I tasted Freed's samples of cakes...and oh my gosh...I could have done better with my six year old. The cakes tasted fake and box like. Their Red Velvet is basically a white cake with red food coloring. Really bad for a bakery here for so long. Leopold's Bakery had some great samples including a to die for Red Velvet and Almond Bar but had no cakes on display. I have to admit that Freed's cakes look spectacular but I would not recommend them if you want more for your money. Pros: Nice Looking Cakes Cons: Bad tasting and high cost more

The website say they do vegan cakes. What this means is just a ""white"" (actually yellow) cake layer. The ""vegan"" frosting is Crisco vegetable shortening mixed with powdered sugar and is VILE and oily tasting. I could still taste it the next day! All the fondant cakes on the website are NOT vegan. The bakery is *not* willing to adapt private recipes to make any different flavor vegan cakes, fillings or frostings. went to freed's to taste wedding cakes and was surprised that this bakery is widely regarded as the premiere bakery in vegas. the cakes were not particularily moist, flavor selection is limited and the fruit fillings might as well have been smucker's. if all you care about is having a fondant tower, then freed's may be the way to go. they can definitely make your cake look beautiful, but it won't taste any better than something you'd get from albertson's. if you're looking for high quality, fresh ingredients, look elsewhere.
