Games Plus Video Game Exchange

My experience w/Games Plus was definitely 5 stars! The store had a friendly atmosphere and Kevin was so helpful. I initially spoke with him on the phone to see if he had a Atari 2600 for sale. During our conversation I had mentioned that I had an inoperative system. He told me to bring it in and he would take a look at it. Kevin sold me a $5.00 adapter to fix my Atari 2600. And that review by mikee? 100% descriptive of the way these guys act. I've seen these guys rip off a few young girls on video games, barely look at em, and throw em in the pile for sale. I've seen them buy really messed up games, even commenting ""these games are really scratched, so I can't give you much for em""... and throw em in the pile for sale. And thats exactly how mike(the guy who sits on his computer all day playing games) acts when people come in with problems. Him and the guy in the back are brothers, and believe me, when it comes to talking about other stores having lower prices, or why they're charging twice or more what people on amazon are when they decide their prices by what people are selling for online, they either 1) Avoid eye contact or 2) start jibber-jabbering a bunch of rubbish. I talked to the guy in the back about dungeon siege being 2x what it was on amazon and he said all kinds of bs, then laughed at me when the girl(fat, of course) up front said ""Why would we bother to lower our prices for someone who barely buys anything?"" Yeah, why bother being competitive with everyone else in town when you can just let everything collect dust? Why bother cleaning the store when you can just sit there on your fat ass and play games all day? These guys are pathetic, the only reason they stay in business is because they're one of the few stores that repairs consoles around here, and - Damn you bill gates - xbox 360's have a ridiculous break rate.(Don't believe me? There's always like 15-20 xbox 360's in the back of this shop being repaired, maybe 2-3 ps3's, I've never seen a wii back there.) I can tell you with certainty thats the only thing keeping this store afloat. These guys would basically rather let a game sit in a box collecting dust than sell it for a few bucks less than what they paid for it, and they've told me this to my face! There's a reason games plus is empty 99% of the time and places like bookmans have people in there store all day long buying things. Do yourself a favor and do some research before you buy ANYTHING there, and I GUARANTEE you will find out its cheaper at gamezone(gilbert and guadalupe), bookmans, or zia. Oh, and these other places also accept returns, which you'll wish games plus did after you buy a few things from them. Pros: There are no pros to getting ripped off. I've never bothered to write a review of a place, but this place IS THAT BAD. Read my full, in depth review at insiderpages. Here's the quick and the dirty... This store is a pig sty. Boxes of crap, all heaped around the store... behind the counter looks like a college students laundry pile. I've been ripped off multiple times by these guys, which I've given descriptions on insider pages, but just a few quickies... They wanted 40 bucks for a genesis which I found at GAMEZONE for 24.99, they wanted 70 bucks for world in conflict which I found ON THE SAME WEBSITE THEY CHECK THEIR PRICES ON(amazon) for 25 BUCKS! They wanted 15 bucks for dungeon siege which I found at frys bundled with gothic 3 for 10 bucks, and same as with World in conflict, on amazon for 6-8 bucks. There's NOTHING in this store you can't find cheaper at other nearby stores like GAMEZONE, bookmans, or ZIA records. NOT ONE THING!! I asked one of the guys there if anyone played Enemy territory(quake wars) anymore and he said ""Yeah, I was just on it and there were a grip of people"", so me and my friend bought the game for 30 bucks each and... ONE SERVER. One server is NOT a grip of people. If you just go in to talk to these guys about games, they'll chat your ears off because all they do ALL DAY is sit on their fat asses playing games, if you go and ask them about hardware stuff their great to talk to because all they do is rip ppl off so they can have things like a super tower with two $800 Nvidia cards that have the Nvidia equivalent of Crossfire, and all they do is build super rigs to play the latest games so they don't have to look around at their trash heap of a store. but do yourself a favor and shop around before you buy anything there. The reason their store is so chock full of games is because EVERYONE AROUND HERE KNOWS GAMEZONE/BOOKMANS and ZIA ARE CHEAPER!! Sometimes you even have to wait a few days or a week for some games like contra or life force(for nes) or good old school games at bookmans/zias because they sell em so cheap! These guys are not professional when it comes to working with the public!! I had traded some old games to receive a store credit of $15, then purchased a used Xbox 360 game for an additional ten dollars. I did not receive a receipt (which should have been the first red flag) When I asked about the return policy, the bald-headed clerk said I could return it within seven days if there were any problems. He said he checked the discs personally and there was nothing wrong. Cons: Please see details below! more
