If you like to get together with people to play games, but you're tired of playing the same games over and over, this is the place for you. They still carry your trusty favorites, but they have a huge variety of games that you have probably never heard of before and there is something for everyone. I had heard about "murder mystery" parties, but had no idea what they really were or how to have one. You can buy a kit that covers everything here and they have a variety of scenarios to choose from. It's a lot of fun! They also have employees demonstrating different games, so you can try things out and get a feel for them before you buy them. more

the best local game store 8/6/2005

Games People Play is in my opinion the best local games store in terms of breadth of selection, mostly fair prices, and service. As an admitted boardgame geek it's often hard to find games I'm looking for in game stores, but generally speaking I've had no problem with this one. For the casual game player, the available selections are plentiful and the store is quite large, featuring play areas for kids, fun displays, and of course the game tables in the rear of the store for tournaments and game groups. My only complaint is not one unique to this store, and has to do with the reality of the price difference between store-bought board games and those purchased online (usually about 10-15 dollars, depending on the game). more

Need a game? This is the place! 8/1/2005

Imagine a store full of not much besides tons and tons of games. Then you would have found Games People play! From chess to Monopoly to Settlers and more, almost any of the board games you would know of are located here. I recently fell in love with a game called Killer Bunnies (weird game but so much fun!) I found online that this store carried it. It was the only one in town that did. I went in to see for myself. The prices for the booster packs were inexpensive - same or cheaper than if I tried eBay. They also have a room in the back where there are game tables - you can play your Magic, Pokemon, whatever your fancy is. Quite a fun store! more
