Editorial review from Citysearch 7/20/2013

I have been going to Dr Gall at the Chatham Animal Hospital in Savannah for years and up until recently I was happy with him, he was always nice to me and my pets and took good care of them but then again I had only been there for either minor reasons or simple yearly check-ups and shots.\r \r I had a cat named Binx for over 17 years and he was my little buddy, yes he was old and a few months ago started peeing on the floor just about everyday and occasionally pooping on the floor too. His poop had recently become very soft, yellowish and had a fowl smell. I had done my research and found that his age was a factor and could have been a variety of issues including cancer. \r \r I was planning a 10 vacation to visit my family Massachusetts and decided to take him to get checked to see if it was something treatable but not expensive since he was so old and didn't have much time left anyway. They ran blood work and found nothing that could cause this and explained to me that further testing would be very costly and chances are it could be cancer. They gave me some medication to give him to help with the very soft poop and gave him a shot of antibiotics and sent him home with me. Two days later on Wednesday the 3rd his stool problem had gotten worse and I was leaving for my trip early on the 5th and decided it was time to put him down since I wouldn't be here and didn't want to leave him in this condition under someone else care. All this time his appetite was great but he was drinking an enormous amount of water to replace the fluids he was losing.\r \r Dr Gall was the Dr I saw this time and Binx was perky and headbutting me and just being his sweet self and I was holding back the tears as he was checking him out. Dr. Gall then asked me to leave him with him and that he wanted to try something since he didn't appear so sick except for the stool problem and that he wouldn't charge me for the boarding and only the food since I couldn't afford it. I was very happy and and left my little buddy in his care. He told me to call him on Tuesday the 9th for his progress.\r I called Monday the 8th and Dr Gall told me that Binx wasn't keeping anything down and it was time to do what I had originally went there for, I started to cry because I had wanted to be there for him and told him to go ahead . I returned on Monday the 15th and went to pick up his body that he had kept in the freezer but Dr Gall was at lunch on the phone with his receptionist and said he would call me the next day. The doctor on his staff that brought me Binx's body was very nice and when I asked if he suffered he told me that when they are that far gone they don't feel anything. I asked what he meant by that because he was very active when I left him and he told me Binx was not eating at all while he was there those 5 days. Dr Gall never called me, I called again and the receptionist said they were busy and he would call me by the end of the day but again he never called.\r \r You see Binx got depressed because I left him there and wouldn't eat, they could have called me. I would have had someone pick him up and bring him home to be with my other cat, he was eating very well at home. I am so upset at the way he spent his last days and had to die without me being there for him when it could have been avoided. Dr Gall lied to me about his condition and also the charges, his charged me $24.50 for food that he did not eat and $100 for boarding which he said he wouldn't charge me and 6 days of that was in the freezer.\r \r I will never bring any of my pets to him again, I have lost all faith in him. more

Exceptional animal care... 4/17/2012

I tried several vets prior to ending up at Chatham Animal Hospital. I could not be happier. Dr. Gall is the best...he is knowledgeable and caring. He treats all types of animals from your dog or cat to exotic animals. For the first time ever, when I take my dogs to the vet, they are happy when they arrive. That says something to me. more

No review here, just insight 10/17/2009

Most small businesses cannot afford websites. The prior review only commented on the website and gave this business a ""1"" star review based on a website, not on services. This is not fair. This made the business a ""1"" star review when it only reflected the 'website presence"" and not the care or services provided. I'm commenting because I've seen too many times that folks comment on things unrelated to the actual business or were too upset to post anything coherent. Pros: Longevity in business Cons: Not a great website more
