Worst

I'll come right out and say it, I went to Gale's for pizza and nothing else. I live in Pasadena and had been hearing rave reviews about Gale's for years, especially the pizza, so...

The restaurant is a little small but the ambience is fun and relaxing. We were greeted by Gale herself and also met her husband when he seated us at our table. The food was excellent, our server was great with describing the menu and Gale came back to make sure we were doing great.... more

no ambience 12/29/2002

It is clear all of the raving reviews below were written by maybe one or two persons obviously with a stake in the restaurant. They didn't even make an effort to change their style of writing. That's unfortunate as this is supposed to be a venue for honest interpretations of restaurants and not a place for restauranteurs and their family members to impersonate (unconvincingly at that) overly enthusiastic ""patrons"". I ate at Gale's approximately 4 months ago and had an ordinary lasangna. The salad I had as an appetizer could have been fresher but the biscottis given at the end of the meal were good. As for the ambience, Gale's is basically a cafeteria with the tables crammed in too close to each other. more

The cozy bar, great atmosphere, friendly service and excellent food make Gale's a most-try in Pasadena. If they have the Paparadelle with Mushroom Ragu special, definitely try it. Pros: Delicious Food, Friendly Service, Cool Decor more

Overrated 12/4/2002

It is overrated. The pizza was neither original nor that tasty (and was barely warm) and the same goes for almost everything else except the table bread which was excellent and the setting which was comfortable and friendly. It's just an American restaurant trying to be Italian. For the best Italian food by Italians, Celestino's is it; for the best pizza it is a toss up between Di Pilla's and Petrillo's. This is a fantastic little, local restaurant. With each day comes new specials that are always good. Service is accommodating and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Nice wine selection (low corkage should you choose to bring your own). To top it off, this place is easy to find with ample parking. Highly recommended! My New Favorite Restaurant 11/7/2002

It was a DELIGHT to dine at this restaurant. I felt at home as soon as I walked in. The staff all seem to work together to make patrons feel comfortable and most importantly, the food is wonderful. It is warmly cooked Italian fare with the surprise of the night being the white pizza. I have sent several friends there already and will continue to recommend it to others. more

The minute we walked in the aroma, the atmosphere, the host - it was so inviting and welcoming. Gale came by our table to welcome us and at the end of the meal to thank us. We were treated so special and the food was unbelieveable from the appetizer to the special ""birthday"" dessert. We had children and they and we felt at ease and the waiter was patient and accommodating to our entire party but especially with the children.
