Best

Great food for a reasonable price. beef shish kabobs that are very TASTY~ Cute little patio seating....very charming. A++

Worst

I live in the neighborhood, so I've tried this place more than anyone should. The food is fine, but the ambiance is terrible and there is hookah smoking going on while you're eati...

Great casual eatery 11/19/2006

Gaby's isn't a fancy place- its a place where you can meet some friends, wear sandals and shorts, and relax. As a result, the service is relaxed, as well. You may have to flag someone down when you need someone, occasionally (I actually prefer this to having a waiter hanging over my table over 3 minutes, but I guess that is just me). The pita and zaatar starter is so addictively good. And the prices for the dishes are great for what you get. I love the maanik wrap sandwich with the salad (I love their simple dressing). The hummus is great, too. Been here around 10 times and I've liked everything I've tried. And for around $6-8 a dish...you can't really make a big mistake. Pros: great food, great selection, relaxed atmosphere Cons: service is non-chalant, can get crowded more

Best in Town for the Value 10/28/2006

We moved from NY a few months ago and found this place tucked away right in our neighborhood. We go here about 4 times a month. We Love it! Out of all this times we have eaten there we have had one off night. Big deal! They work their butts off and provide a great service and food for what it cost. Two people can fill up for about 25 bucks with tip. We do like the one in Culver City over Venice Beach, too many nuts out there. So in short if you want good cheap eats go here! Pros: the food and try the pink lemonade Cons: busy on weekend more

Great service!!! 9/11/2006

After reading all of the reviews, all the bad things everyone had to say about the service, I still went over to try the best mediterranean food in town. the food was hands down the best in town, but the service was spot on. We had 2 waitresses coming by our table. The bussers were by to fill our glasses. Not what we were expecting. I can't wait to try their Ocean side restaurant on Washington Blvd. at the peir. Pros: service, food, food Cons: no parking!!!! more

The worst customer service ever 8/27/2006

Totally not service oriented. What's worse another patron claimed to be "legal representation" for the owners & wanted special treatment. Ugh. Pros: none Cons: no parking, bad service, obnoxious customers more

Super food at cheap prices 8/6/2006

We discovered this restaurant on Citysearch and weren't disappointed. The food is outstanding, especially the appetizer platters like baba ghanouj, hoummus and falafel. The portions are quite generous at very reasonable prices. We ate like kings for $22 for two people. The first time we went, we brought both a bottle of red and a bottle of white, but were only charged one $5 corking fee. The food comes out quite quickly, so there isn't a whole lot of time to eat leisurely. The first thing out is a plate of zatar (I hope I'm spelling that right). It's a mixture of olive oil, oregano, and sesame seeds with a little bit of chopped onion and chopped tomato. You dip the pita bread in it. It's scrumptous. We ate there twice in a week and loved it both times. The people at the next table ordered a shish-ka-bob platter that looked fantastic and was quite large (I think $11). The salad was also large but only fair. The feta cheese in the salad was ordinary and tasteless.\r \r The restaurant itself is nothing to rave about. It's outdoor seating in a tent-like structure. You're protected from the rain and sun but that's it. Don't let that stop you from going there. You'll also probably have to find street parking, but that wasn't very difficult. Pros: Great food, cheap prices, generous portions Cons: Ambiance, street parking more

awesome food, loooong wait for waiters 8/3/2006

I have a love/hate relationship with Gaby's. On one hand, these guys serve the best kebabs and garlic paste I've ever tasted. Super, super good food, I kid you not. On the other hand, service was bad big time. Takes forever to get a waiter's attention to do anything: get your order, get your check, even just wanting a glass of water. One time they even forgot our order and we had to wait an extra long time during which we finally said screw this, just pack it up & we'll eat it at home. So my solution, unless Gaby's drastically improves their service, is that I reserve Gaby's for my call-to-order-and-eat-at-home dinners. That way I still get to eat their good food, but don't have to wait a hundred years for my order. Pros: food Cons: understaffed more

Fantastic and Fabulous 5/21/2006

I am a big fan of Mediterranean food, and value, both of which are provided by Gaby's! I went there two weeks ago for a dinner for four. The total, including corkage fees came to approximately $45. We had a lovely two hour dinner sitting outside, with appetizers, and entrees. If you're on a budget, and want delicious food with a unique atmosphere, Gaby's is it! Pros: Food, Value, Service Cons: Parking more

Better...MUCH Better! 5/8/2006

We've been to Gaby's TWICE in the last month. Both times were FANTASTIC! We have missed it so much and it is so nice to have it back. The Leon's Chicken Salad is DELISH! We always start slow with the fava bean appetizer, hummus and/or babaganoush (sp?) and if you like Garlic...try their garlic paste on your meat...dreamy! Enjoy! Pros: None Cons: The food, the service, the family style menus for parties in excess of 4 more

One of my Favorites 4/11/2006

Gaby's is a great place and I recommend it to all of my friends!! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very laid-back and relaxed. Although the traffic is a bit noisy off of Venice Blvd, its great being outside and you're not made to feel hurried to leave by the staff. Service is not tip-top, but not bad either - I'd say its average. Parking can be a bit tight, but I've never gone and not found a spot. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant! Pros: food, atmosphere, relaxed dining Cons: service, parking more

Nothing special 4/7/2006

Gaby's has average quality food (the Shwarma is some of the best I've tasted though), and the service is also about average. The waiter that served my group seemed very snooty and made a comment under his breath when we asked for some more pita. The atmosphere seemed very "cafeteria style". Pros: great shwarma Cons: hard to park, snooty waiters more
