There nice enough-I've taken my dogs here for almost 7 years. I must say though, for routine visits, maintenance, and shots, it's fine. My dogs have been healthy. WARNING: If ...

I am very satisfied with their treatment of my animals. 2/8/2010

I have been coming to Gateway Animal Hospital for 20+ years with all of my dogs. I am very satisfied with their treatment of my animals. They are reasonable with their prices and the staff is very polite, courteous and knowledgeable. I recommend Gateway and their doctor's highly. Vicky L. more

I wanted to thank you for taking such good care of my "kids" 2/2/2010

Hey everyone...it is with deep sadness that I announce the final transition of our beloved "XENA" Cunningham. Raphael, you were right. The cancer spread so quickly that within a week and a half, we had to make "the" decision. You'll be relieved to know though that the thrice daily wrappings of her foot along with a 2 hour "airing out" period in the evening before final wrap, cleared up the infection in her foot, but the tumor continued to grow significantly each day. She was a great sport about it...but we could see the struggle and signs of cancer spreading exponentially daily. So, on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 5:45 p.m., an angelic Vet technician from Palm Springs Animal Hospital whose name was "MARTA", came over to our house and put Xena to sleep. It was very VERY peaceful...fire in the fireplace, classical music softly in the back ground, soft lighting, and her head was in my lap with my arms fully around her and my face on hers. She now is resting in her favorite sunning area in the back yard. Now that we've moved to Palm Springs , I don't know when I'll see you all again. I wish to thank ALL of you, (especially you, Raphael!) for taking such good care of our "kids" over the last 32 years: Brett, Bandit, TeeJay, Ginaro, Judy, Job, Ebony, Lily, Oscar & Xena. And hopefully, we'll meet again someday. For the first time in the last 32 years, the house is truly empty of animals and it feels awful. As soon as we catch our breath, we'll go rescue a couple more.. Jeanie C. more

Just great! 2/1/2010

For over 30 years my wife and I entrusted Gateway Animal Hospital with the care of all our family pets. Seven dogs and a cat to date. We have never been disappointed with the care they received. Over all those years we have found the entire staff, from the front desk personnel to the doctors, to be pleasant, professional and supportive regardless of how minor or serious the problem was or when heart wrenching decisions had to be made. Thank you! 1/13/2010

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!!! Lucky thanks you! You all could not have been nicer. Lucky is doing great now and he just finished his final medication. (I think he knew it was helping him) I can not believe what a difference it made. If only he could have told me sooner but alas he is a new dog now. I've told all my friends what a great place Gateway Animal Hospital is - (like you need any more business in your front office). Hopefully we will not have to see you soon other than his shots. You're the best. Jon & Lucky more

Great rates. 1/6/2010

If you are looking for a great animal hospital that provides good service at very reasonable rates, Gateway Animal Hospital in Glendale is my choice. My husband and I have been taking our animals there for almost 15 years now. The service is always great and even though a lot of times they get really busy and the wait can seem long, the front counter girls are always so nice keeping us posted as to when our turn is coming up. Our pets love their doctors and they don?t seem to tremble and shake when we take them in. I?ve always found the treatments they have prescribed for our pets, usually clear the problems right up. We have not felt we were pushed into unneeded services like we have found in the past at other places. And if we've had any questions, we always get a direct answers from the doctors. Sometimes they are busy and we have to be called back but the do get back to us. I have found them to be very helpful and complete in any diagnosis of our pets. I asked then about the ?Escobar? incident that has been posted on some of the review boards that made the news a while back. Losing a pet is never easy and I understand how the Escobar?s must have felt but rather than going into details about what I know happened why not talk to them direct or stop by and talk to them in person about it. I found that I was extremely satisfied with their explanation of their side of the story. It was a sad incident indeed but also a very rare case. My babies are getting up there in age now. I know their time will be coming someday soon but I also know, Gateway Animal Hospital will be there for me when with the most compassionate and caring staff and doctors in my time of need. - Mary more

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the care your hospital has given my pets these past months. I have been a customer at Gateway since September of 2003 when, on the recommendation of a friend, I brought in my first two strays, Smudge and Boo, for spaying. I was treated extremely well back then and that has continued. - Evelyn more

A decade ago it was Carla and Alvin, both were great dogs and lived long healthy lives. Now it's Bugoy who is 10 years old, Peanut and Burrito both of which are 10 months old. This is a very good place to bring your dog, I have never had an issue with there services at all. As a good dog owner you have to keep vigilant with your dogs health, and a lot of the responsibly with regards to keeping your dog up with to date with any shots he may need, giving your dog quality food, and consistent exercise, I think a lot if not the majority of your dogs health falls upon the owner. Having 3 dogs at home; Peanut, Bugoy, and Burrito, I figured that it would be safer to have Peanut, the only female, spayed. I brought Peanut who is a short haired chihuahua in yesterday morning and they told me that I could pick her up the next day. It was simple and convenient (for me that is) and in picking up my dog today she looked remarkably well adjusted, they say it would take a couple of days for my dog to get back to normal but what I really liked was how the doctor used suture material that dissolves, so that there are no sutures to be removed, that the sutures were inside and would dissolve. No need for to come back in 3 weeks and no need for my dog to wear one of those cone collars. Dr. Jimerson is the one that takes care of all my dogs and I would recommend him to anybody. Oh here is a tip, go to http://www.laanimalser... and get a coupon worth $30 off your bill when you get your pet spayed or neutered. At times the waiting area can get a little crowed, a little warm, and a little noisy, but even with this the staff is very patient and very professional. - Rod V. more

To Dr. Jimerson and staff: As you know, a couple months ago, we went through a terrible time with our beloved Labrador " Buddy" . Buddy goes with me on the trail, with my horse and i cannot always monitor what his big nose gets into. I'll never forget that night my friend Barbra and i took him to the emergency " high profile" hospital in Los Angeles. After 4 hours they sent Buddy home with pain medication and an " up in the air diagnosis". The next day i took Buddy to his regular vet Dr. Jimerson and he stayed 2 days for I.V fluids and was treated for an infection, probably cought by eating something on the trail. My animals mean everything to me, they are my family. I can sleep better at night, knowing Gateway is always there for them. It's great having in our community a good hospital with such caring and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for being there for us... Jimsie E. more

Re: I have been a client for almost 15 years 11/17/2009

I have been a client of Gateway Animal Hospital for almost 15 years. Unequivocally, I can tell you that the two vets who have treated my animals -- Dr. Villacana and Dr. Preskopf are phenomenal. On more than one occasion Dr. Villacana literally saved my animal’s lives. For instance, a number of years ago, I found a German (Shiloh) Shepherd in Griffith Park who was near death. In fact when I brought him into Gateway Dr. Villacana said that the most humane option might be euthanasia because of how bad his situation was. However, when I said I wanted to try and save him, Dr. V. pulled out all the stops, giving him transfusions, operating numerous times and rehabilitating. This dog recovered and lived for another 7 years before succumbing to old age. In another instance Dr. V. recognized that my Dalmatian had something seriously wrong with him and did immediate surgery. He uncovered an enormous spleenic tumor. If Dr. V. had not acted upon his intuition and operated my dog would have died that day. As it turned out his quick action bought us about a month – enough time to at least prepare for his death and giving us the chance to say good-bye. Both Dr. Preskopf and Dr. Villacana and indeed the entire help staff, especially George, the office manager, are kind and compassionate and many times have gone out of their way to help and comfort. While there may be people who have not had positive experiences at Gateway, anyone reading reviews of this vet clinic online should give equal weight to the positive postings. Sometimes people post negative entries as a way of trying to absolve themselves of guilt about their benign neglect of their animals (failing to take in the animal when symptoms are first noticed) and then find it convenient to blame the vet for the animals illness or death. In my experience Gateway is a terrific vet office with a number of exceptional doctors on staff. more

I live with and work for Barbara Parkening. I am always taking one of the critters either to or from Gateway Animal Hospital for shots, spray or neutering or when one gets sick or needs attention. I've been involved with Gateway for about 7 years now and even though they are terribly busy i have never had a "bad" experience with any of the staff. The Doctors are all well informed about each patient before they come into the examination room and make you genuinely care about your pet. I also work at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, so when a dog gets hurt at a horse show, i always recommend Gateway Animal Hospital. - Karen S. more

I've been going to Gateway Animal Hospital for over 20 years. I rescue cars and dogs so the vets have taken care of my animals for me. In all these years i have never had a problem with them. The staff that works there is very helpfull and really cares about the animals. Two years ago a friend of mine called me and told me his dog was attacked by a coyote, and was in real bad shape. The vet clinic in Aqua Dulce where the dog was taken, told them to take her to the Animal Specialty Group in Glendale. When they got there they were told they needed to put a $4000.00 deposit just to have them look at the dog. That's when they called me. I told them my vet was Gateway. Just a few block away and i told them to take her there. The vets at Gateway saved her life and the cost? Under $600.00. The only vet clinic i recommend is Gateway Animal Hospital. Hands down they are the BEST! Barbara P. more

Re: Animal Care 11/3/2009

To the doctor's and staff: Just wanted to drop you guys a line to thank you for all the wonderful care you have give to my animals through the years. I know it is always not easy trying to care for feral cats, as you know my passion is rescusing feral cats and rehabilitating them back to loving homes. I truly appreciate everything you guys have done for me. Offcourse i can't forget my dogs. My little resue dog " Bingo's" skin condition is all cleared up and he has a great life playing outdoors now. I don't know what i would do without Getaway Animal Hospital. more

not so costly vet but lacks individual attention 11/29/2005

This is a solid low-cost veterinary clinic. they take all typeshere for spay / neuter procedures (they accept vouchers) and vaccinations. You do not receive the individual attention that you get at some other vets, and you generally cannot accompany your pet to be examined. It's a great economical choice for basic vet services, but I would not recommend it for complex health issues that might require more individual attention or specialists. more
