G Michael Salon

I am from out of town on business. I skeptically looked through the internet for local hair salons. I was trusting a stranger to cut my hair! If they get it right....great! If they don't.... I have to let it grow back out, which could take months! So I did not take this research lightly!!! The ad caught my eye...very professional and impressive. I decided to chose G Michael Salons. Nervously, I walk into the salon and immediately I was treated like royality! I got a head and neck massage and I actually got a true "take your time and make it enjoyable" shampooing and conditioning! While Greg allowed the conditioner to work it's magic he gave me a mini-facial...OMG! It was wonderful. He listened to my requests, evaluated my cut, processed the information and then he made his recommendations and explained what he was going to do! By this time, he had gained my total trust! The cut was awesome. First time a stylist actually cut my hair visually and not symmetrically. I don't care how it's done....I just want it to look even. My hair parts thickly on one side and every stylist wants to cut it symmetrically.... making it even on both sides! Then when I part my hair naturally, my hair is thick on one side and thin on other side. When my hair grows out, I have helmet hair because of the layers at the top are thick and the bottom of my hair is thin. My hair cut is awesome.... and so soft! I don't know what he used but the products where top notch! I am actually thinking of driving 5 hours to keep this style up!!! Thank you Greg ...what a great experience. more

I'm a pretty tough person to impress, and Greg definitely lived up to all these great reviews! Some of them sounded too good to be true, but I can now say I agree with them all. Greg is creative, skillful, meticulous, and just a darn great guy! I loved my haircut and especially love that he offered great advice without being pushy. He knows exactly how to work with your hair type. I have very fine hair so layering is tricky. He's the only stylist that has gotten it right since I moved two states away from my nationally known stylist over 5 years ago! An extra perk: he's tech savvy! You can schedule an appointment online, he'll email you a link where you can add the appointment to your calendar and confirm the appointment with him. Seriously, why aren't all salon's doing this?? To sum it up, Greg is worth every penny and I'd definitely recommend him! more

I had a little bit of trouble finding it, because it's inside a building which is labeled Sola Salon. The concept is actually really neat, though- the building is full of individual salons where each stylist has their own mini-salon. It's a cool experience because you are with the stylist the entire time without being passed off to other people or having the commotion of an entire huge salon around you. Greg is fantastic - I needed advice on my color/cut and I had complete confidence that he would get it right - and he DID! My hair looks fantastic, and I actually didn't have to come home and restyle it immediately after I left, like I usually do. Greg is very meticulous, yet still quick. I will definitely be back! I'm all about feeling like I'm getting best-in-show services from someone who's trained with the masters. I'm picky. But who needs attitude and who wants to feel rushed or passed off to someone else to highlight or style? No snobbery here, just genuine talent. I've been searching for someone who gets me and my hair and makes it a fun experience. Lived in Chicago, Charlotte and more and Greg is as good as they come. Plus, he's sweet and fun and he listens! Finally, he nailed my highlights ('wheat' not red) and gave me guidance on growing out and a trim to suit my face, features, etc. Prices are more than reasonable and you walk into an intimate space that's just you and Greg (and sometimes Joe, who I also love)! That says much since my history has been as a client with some wonderful salons and stylists in NYC and southern CA. I have short hair, which makes a bad cut very obvious - never a worry about that with Greg! I loved what greg did with my hair, I have VERY long blonde hair and when i got the color it looked natural and lasted a long time. Also, my hair felt so healthy afterwards! Amazing. I would recommend him to any of my friends. more
