Fuji Sushi has been open for a couple of months, so it looks like it's going to make it. (Restaurants around here come and go quickly in case you haven't noticed.) I've heard mixed reviews about this place and I was nervous about trying it. I've tried it three times, found the food to be delicious and the service to be excellent.
The restaurant does not offer a separate lunch menu, but there are several items that would compete with lunch prices at other restaurants. Vegetable Tempura for example is only $5.95 and the shrimp fried rice is $6.25. You can also choose several sushi dishes, some filling appetizers and soups and salads for under $6.00. The first time I went I had California Rolls and they were delicious. No the crab meat or the avocado. I've had the Shrimp Tempura Roll and it's delicious. The Hibachi chicken is good. It's all white meat. If you're wanting take-out, you'll find the service to be very quick. All the dishes can be prepared without MSG. My husband has asked some special requests for sushi and the waitress has never hesitated to pass it along. He's always gotten it made just the way he wants it. This restaurant doesn't offer the full table shows that are associated with Japanese restaurant. It does offer a great location and great atmosphere.
The major complaints I've heard involve some of the soups. Apparantly, some vegetables and breaded and fried like tempura and then put in soup. Doesn't sound too tasty. I stay away from it, but I have orderd five or six items on their menu and have been very pleased.
The restaurant is on West Morris Boulevard, just a few blocks east of the Morris Blvd/AJ highway. Even though there's not red light, it's easy to get in and out even in rush hour. There's also plenty of parking. The restaurant does not deliver. It is not open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. During the week, it closes at 2:30 for lunch and reopens serving supper at 4:30 p.m. This is a very good addition to Morristown's restaurant listings!
