I asked LOTS of questions when I made my appointment for my pap. I knew that my thyroid was out of whack and I wanted a doctor that would look at both my symptoms and the test results. I was assured that Dr. Lefholz was concerned about helping her patients with thyroid issues. .
The day of my visit I was actually called back rather quickly. Nice surprise. Then I was told to go to the lab. OK, you can see by my chart in your hand that I have never been here before. Where IS the lab? I found the lab, handed them my file. They were too busy gossiping to even look my direction. She took my file, said we need a sample. OK....do you need me to sit so you can take a blood sample? She got snarky with me and said NO! A URINE SAMPLE! When I came back out she made a half hearted attempt to apologize.
When I finally saw the doctor I told her what I was needing (pap) my concerns about the thyroid along with a list of all the symptoms I was suffering (pretty much every one of them) and told her I was planning on getting pregnant in the next year. She look at my chart, looked at me and said you are braver than me. I was rather taken aback. I'm looking for MEDICAL ADVICE not her PERSONAL OPINION.
A week later I called back to find out if I needed to come back for another visit to review my thyroid test. I received a call back from her nurse. Who treated me like an idiot and said...."there is nothing wrong with your thyroid. I demanded a copy of the test results. When I received the results I was SHOCKED to see that even after all the questions I had asked before I made an appointment the were still using test values from BEFORE 2003.
My new doctor took one look at those test results and IMMEDIATELY put me on Armour.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I AM TELLING EVERYONE I CAN WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I HAD THERE!!!
