There are two ways to get up Mt Rubidoux. One way is twice as long, but half as steep. The second is very steep, but not very long. The trail is roughly 3 miles long, elevation around 1300 ft.
From the top you can see all of downtown Riverside, all of Rubidoux and almost all the way to La Sierra. Flabob Airport is nearby and sometimes you can watch small private aircraft doing touch and go's. I have seen lots of different birds, many lizards, jack rabbits and once, a fox on the mountain.
Even though disposal bags are provided, beware of dog poo on the path. There are no restrooms and the only water fountains are by the Tequesquite Ave. entrance. The parking regulations have changed so read the signs carefully or you'll end up with a parking ticket.
My own personal complaint are the people who walk the trail and are using iPods without their ear buds. I walk Mt Rubidoux to get away from the noise, not to listen to someone else's repulsive choice of music.
It's a nice place to talk a walk.
