Friends Community School is an adorable little school (it is even shaped like an old brick school building) just outside the University of Maryland campus. It is a private Quaker school with small class sizes for pre-school aged kids up to currently 7th grade. They are planning renovations for the school, as well as a plan to have the school go on through high school. The kids are paired up with teachers and classes for two years so that they get really comfortable with their class community and they offer a good number of field trips and activities throughout the year, including an annual trip to Catoctin for an evening of camping. They also have extended day care available for parents unable to pick the kids up at 3 (or 2 every Wednesday).
