In Short
More than a half-dozen buildings and several open-air sections comprise the six-block area collectively referred to as the French Market. It remains, in part, as it started--a place to find vendors peddling eclectic trinkets, jewelry, sunglasses, art, posters and clothing. From Barracks Street, visitors first encounter a massive flea market. Shops and restaurants now fill the buildings that continue toward the complex's crown jewel, Cafe du Monde.
