Best Vintage Barber Shop 12/11/2012

Fred's Barber Shop is a real authentic 60's era barber shop. The Barber shop is what an old barber shop was in the early 1960's with chrome lather machines, Heavy duty barber chairs with ashtrays, Play Boy magazines, vintage hair oils and tonics on the glass shelves, Barbicide comb jars, The smell of bay rum, pomade and talc powder and old vintage ad from Brylcream and Pinaud. Master Barber 11/13/2007

I've never gone anywhere else in Los Angeles. My barber is a master of the old school approach to the shave and a hair cut. Expect hot shaving cream and a straight razor. He also uses a vintage scalp massager, if you're lucky. more

Cool place. Super fast service. Fred's is the only barber I trust not to screw up my hair. Recently, I didn't know what kind of cut I wanted and asked them to just do something that would be cool... Walked out with the best haircut in years. My girlfriend loved it. more

This is what a barber shop should be. The barbers will greet you, give you a good cut, brush off the excess hair with care, and send you on your way. Not too pricey, never too crowded. Go see Fred's Barber Shop if you're sick to death of the chain places. more

Really the Best Barber Shop in L.A. 10/20/2007

Went to Fred's Barber Shop a week ago and had my best barber shop experience in Los Angeles. This barber shop is LA's best for the fact that they're not in Silver Lake, Hollywood or any other hip section of Los Angeles. When you walk into Fred's you won't see any hipters in their torn up tee shirts, what you'll see are average Joe and Bob types waiting for a real barber. more

Excellent Barber Shop in Los Angeles 9/24/2007

Excellent Barbershop. I have been going here for about a year and have to say that this a true barbershop in every sense of the word. The services offered by Fred's Barber Shop are great! I appreciate the fact that these guys cater to men only and use traditional methods when it comes to cutting. The warm shaving cream and straight razor at the end of the haircut is awesome!!! I highly recommend this barbershop to any man that wants a true and traditional haircut and barbershop shop experience. Oh yea, and the beer is cool too! I have found my barber for life! more

Fred's Barber Shop 9/12/2007

Since moving to the Los Angeles area 9 months ago, I have been looking for a good place to get a haircut. I've never been a fan of ""stylists"" or ""barber-salons."" For me, it takes a good old fashioned, barber with the smell of barbicide and butch wax on his fingertips to give a man a proper haircut. Today I was feeling a little shaggy and as I wandered around trying to extend my lunch break by about a half hour, I stumbled upon ""Fred's Barber Shop"" in Gardena. Pros: Old Barber Shop more
