I recently purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander and traded in a Leased 2009 RAV4. I agreed with the sales team to pay $329/mo over 75 months at 4.99%. When it came time to sign the papers the details were $329/mo at 6.99% for 84 months. I challenged these numbers. They changed them to as agreed and attributed this to a 'communications error'. I inquired about my trade in being paid off and they assured me that it would be paid off within a few days. This was on Sept. 12, 2011.
I returned to the dealership three days later, on September 15th, and inquired about my trade in being paid off. I spoke to the sales manager and he assured me it was paid off. OK I was satisfied.
On November 3rd, 2011, I get a call from Toyota Motor Credit Collections stating my account was delinquent and wondering why a reliable customer like me has missed 2 payments. I said something must wrong because Fred Beans Motors paid this off in September. They insisted that no payment was received.
At this point I called Mitubishi Customer Service and related the above problem. They call Fred Beans who claim they overnighted a check on Nov. 4th to Toyota.
The bottom line is that Fred Beans Motor Company was dishonest and untrustworthy on two counts regarding my experience with them.
If you trade in a vehicle to them, make them sign a statement that they are liable for the payoff ant the payoff must be completed within 3 days.
