Frank's Diner

We have been going to Frank's diner for years. It was a family tradition to go every Sunday. My only expectation when dinning out is to get good food and friendly service. Unfortunately, to pay money for today's awful experience and anxiety after eating breakfast there is enough for me to never go back. \r \r The last couple of times we have visited the food has been mediocre. I continued the family tradition thinking it was a new cook and they would eventually ""get it"". The final straw was today's breakfast. The usual hostess of 25 years is no longer there and no one greeted us with a friendly ""hello."" The food took an extremely long time to come out (which is odd considering the place was basically empty). When it did arrive, we all agreed that it had dropped below ""mediocre"" marker. The waffles were burnt and hallow, literally crumbled when cut, vs. the chicken fried steak was mushy. Since the waffles were uneatable, we requested new ones. The second batch came out burnt and crunchy again, so we requested pancakes. \r \r After breakfast we requested the check, waited 10 mins.. no check. My husband decided to go to the cash register to see if he could pay. When he got up there he heard the manager (who also claimed to be the owner) talking about us. ""What do they expect, mushy pancakes. I am not taking that off their bill"" My husband politely pointed out ""they were burnt and hollow."" She looks at him and says, ""Excuse me, I was not talking to you I was talking to my waitress."" I could go on with the story but I am sure you get the point. Less the mediocre food, poor management and unfriendly service. NO THANK YOU FRANK'S DINER!! To pay money for awful experience and anxiety after leaving is enough for me to never go back.\r more

Franks is a traditional diner that you don't find too many of anymore. They have great food, breakfast all day and sausage gravy and biscuits in the morning that are really good. The staff are all terrific and go out of their way to make your dining experience good. I actually had one waitress that went so far as to find a bandaid for my son when he hurt his finger outside in the parking lot. She gave me the one I needed and a few extra to keep just in case. The only thing bad to say about the place is that they charge a tip for take out orders and when they are really packed on a weekend morning, service slacks some and you may have a little bit of a wait as the place is small so they get pretty crammed in. They also don't take phone orders on the weekends. A nice touch is the juke boxes as every table and the place looks like it is straight out of the 50's era with the stainless steel and vinyl booths. Everything tastes good, good service and prices are very reasonable. Good home-cooked meal for what you would pay at Denny's or IHOP. I personally love this place and would recommend it to anyone. We go there at least once every week or two, if not more. Give it a try, you'll definitely love it and go back for another visit. Pros: Great Food, Good Service and Nostalgic Ambiance Cons: Can be cramped and service gets slow when busy, may be a wait on weekend mornings more

Great chip beef gravy. You get a lot for the money. Comes close to Brian's on N. Orange in Orlando and Nancy's on N. High in Columbus. Service was good and fast. Wait staff very helpful. Old place but clean. Booths a little tight for those with middle age spread. I will return with my family. Prices seem a little high, but this is Maryland. Juke box at each booth as well. Check it out and be hungry when you do. more
