Best

This place was reccommended by a bartender at another restaurant when I asked where I could go eat at that time of night (around 11:00 PM). I was on vacation, my mother was in the...

Worst

i don't get the hype. the food is good (make sure you get a higher temp on your food, i ordered med rare and got a raw steak instead.) but the service is questionable. i've neve...

One of my Favorites 3/25/2004

This place is great for the amount of money you are paying. All entrees are under $20. It is one of the few places in the city where you can get a spectacular meal for a reasonable price. It is small, intimate and trendy. Quite often you will have to wait for a table but you can enjoy yourself at the bar and you won't even notice the time go by. more

Just Great 7/9/2003

I eat here at least once a week. The food is absolutely great and rivals restaurants that charge 2 to 3 times more. You can't go wrong here. The prices for wine are very very fair and the place has a lot of charm more

Absolutely Amazing!!!! 4/14/2003

This restaurant was INCREDIBLE!!!! I could hardly believe how amazing the food was. I debated between the meatloaf and the flank steak. After choosing the steak, I immediately had a bite of my friends meatloaf when it came. I was kicking myself when I tasted it for not choosing it since it was the best meatloaf I had ever tried. However, when I tried a bite of my own food, I was ecstatic. It was like a party in my mouth!!!! Great atmosphere although a little small. Excellent drinks too.VERY strong. Service was friendly and quick. I was recommending this place to people three days after I went. Pros: Unbelievable Food, Strong Drinks, Allows Smoking Cons: On the Small Side, No Waiting Area more

Sexy night out 1/28/2003

One of those places, that every time you go, you make an indellible memory. An eclectic cuisine, young and hip ambience, and one of the last places in Boston you can smoke to your heart's content! Very chic and happening in a sophisticated sort of way. They also don't card! more

FABULOUS! 12/29/2002

The Franklin Cafe is one of Boston's best-kept secrets - and frankly, it should stay that way! I LOVE this restaurant - swanky bar, sultry ambience, low-key but efficient staff, and the food is always an A+.... more

Can't Beat It 9/20/2002

You can't beat this place for late night food. The drinks are great too. Just a little to smokey Pros: OPEN LATE, GREAT FOOD Cons: SMOKEY more

reliable reviews 8/16/2002

My girlfriend and I moved to Boston recently from Chicago and recently found a late night restaurant that rivals Chicago, NY and SF. The food is as good as it gets and rivals other great dinner restaurants in the city. We both love the neighborhood feeling and the prices are very reasonable. more

Frankie goes all out! 8/13/2002

This place is the bomb, everything off the menu is phenominal, the wine selection is just as good, the service is tops and ambiance is casual/sophisticated. Like a Ferrari is a drivers car, the Franklin is a restaurantuer's cuisine. What's also good about the Franklin is, you can wear anything from a T shirt and shorts to a snappy out-on-the town outfit and you fit right in. I hope these guys never stop. more

Real Good Food at Night 8/5/2002

This place is great for food at 1:00 AM and probably is one the best kept secrets in the South End or even Boston. You can't get a better meal at the hour at The Four Seasons. I've eaten at Franklin at least 100 times and have a great food. It's a hip place that you might find in NY's village area or maybe in Europe. Very casual and a great value for the money. You can't beat it! Pros: Good Food, Good Value, Good Drinks Cons: Long wait, Small and smokey, No Parking more

yummy and fun 8/2/2002

There are very few tables, making the wait a bit long any night of the week. The food is very good though and the atmosphere is pretty fun. A good place to go for drinks and dinner if you're not in a hurry and not looking for a quiet, intimate experience. The restaurant is dark and a bit loud since the bar and dining tables are in one small, open space. The staff is quite friendly. Pros: fun atmosphere, friendly service, good food Cons: dark and smoky, loud, long wait for a table more

Best Restaurant in Boston 7/31/2002

The Franklin is absolutely the greatest place to eat and hang out in Boston. Amazing food, good service, and the best Long Island Iced Tea in Boston make up for the usually horrendously long waits. Pros: Food, Ambience more

Worth the Wait! 7/21/2002

The longish wiats more than make up for some of the best 'new american' cusine in the city, thats also amoungst the most reasonable. My two 'must haves'?- Tuna Tartare appetizer, and Sea Scallops entree (the scallops are amoung the best anywhere!).... Pros: good value, great food, open late Cons: crowded, long waits, noisy more
