He is a member of the medical staffs of both Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet and South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. Dr. Smit is a Past President of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association and served as a Trustee on the Board of The American Podiatric Medical Association.
