Best Mexican atmosphere in Socorro 4/10/2010

The service is great, and the solarium is beautiful. The food is bland. An Anglo-American would find the food spicy, however for a seasoned New Mexican it is lacking. The best thing about the food is that they don't mess around with a green chile sauce, you get homestyle chopped green chile. The enchiladas are the best dish especially with the green chile. Que viva Nuevo Mexico! Chile verde!!!!!! Pros: Beautiful colors Cons: Food has no heat. Simply a tourist attraction. more

Not the top of the list for NM food but the atmosphere is nice... 4/3/2008

This restaurant is lovely inside, very New Mexican feeling with a large solarium and fountain in the back. I've never waited for a table, however service has been so-so, sometimes you get a good waiter, sometimes you don't. This is NOT the top restaurant in Socorro for traditional New Mexican dishes, although it is the prettiest! The chile and salsa are both weak and would not meet a seasoned New Mexican diner's standards. ALL the food is pretty toned down here and more for the tourists or people passing through on I-25. The stuffed sopapilla is about the best thing they make. The have a decent beer menu as well. Prices are $6-$8 for just about anything. Pros: ambience, price Cons: weak chile & salsa, service lacking more

Not rushed, but good 8/21/2006

The service was a little slow, but not ridiculously so. The food was great, the decor was pleasant, they apparently give a 10% discount to New Mexico Tech students. There were no papertowels in the restroom and the waiter called a table full of women ""you guys"" repeatedly, but all in all it was a pleasant dining experience. We made the mistake of taking the nearest available table when the waiter seemed indecisive. We later learned that the rear of the restaurant is a lot nicer.
