The Wright Stuff 4/27/2006

Frank Lloyd Wright must have been an amazing person. Great acomplishments and a fantastic career yes indeed. I like the tour of his former home and studio, but what really impressed me was the man himself. Learning about him was inspirational to me. He was not a perfect person by any means, but who is. His love for nature and how he integrated his homes and buildings to co-exist with the surroundings impressed me as well as his love for God and family. I bought a map after my tour to see more of the homes that are in Oak Park. I went and saw about 7 more, they are alot in Forest Park,Il also. The price of the tour should be a few dollars lower and the home should have some ventilation going thru it, it was too hot and stuffy in there on the day I went. more

Visit the Master's workshop 1/16/2006

If you have any interest in the work of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright's work, this place is a must see. It is one of the more interesting tours you can take. In it you can get some real insight into how his vision evolved in the twenty years he lived here. A high point is visiting the children's playroom. The arched ceiling, the leaded glass windows in the treetops, the balcony make for a memorable space. Wright was one of the century's most influential architects. It is worth the visit to see the place where he lived and worked for years. more

Wonderful Architecture 8/8/2005

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is an excellent place to visit if you are interested in architecture. This is the home in Oak Park that Wright and his family lived in for many years. It is a fabulous place that has been incredibly well-preserved. Of particular interest is the octagonal library and the drafting room where Wright and his partner(s) drew up the plans for their buildings. The tour guides are great, and know a lot of anecdotes about the family. They can give you a nice little story about nearly every room in the house! more
