Since beginning psychiatric practice in 1978, I have worked in private, community and academic settings, gathering broad clinical, leadership and teaching experience. I have practiced psychiatry in community clinics in Northern and Southern California & Ohio and served on academic faculty at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. At Harding Hospital in Worthington,OH (now merged with OSU), I directed a long-term inpatient unit, served as president of the medical staff and developed and directed Harding's first inpatient eating disorders program before focusing on full-time private practice since 1988. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed teaching psychiatric residents, medical students and other mental health professionals, as well as lecturing to colleagues and the public. While still in medical school, I chose to specialize in psychiatry because nothing fascinates me as much as the human mind, and I still feel privileged to share others' journeys of self-exploration on the road toward healthy functioning and personal fulfillment.
