Not awful 11/20/2010

I recently went to this bar on a Friday night to have a drink with a friend who lives in the area. Basically, it's just a bar, nothing fancy, but not awful and the atmosphere seemed friendly. Most the the crowd appeared to be local youngish professionals along with a few "old timers" nursing a drink at the bar. Not much atmosphere and a little too brightly lit for my taste. Lots of parking in the back. I WOULD NOT go there to meet women as I counted 4 in the whole place verses about 25 guys. However the guys did seem to be enjoying themselfs and no one seemed to mind the lack of available women (and no it's not a gay bar). more

Friendly 12/15/2009

I read some comments about how rude the staff and patrons were, BS. I moved here from CO in August, I stopped in for a cocktail and was treated very good. It is a dive bar with friendly patrons and staff. Accept it for what it is or move on to some of the other stuffy bars in the area. Pros: great staff more

I like a good dive bar. Foxfire Room is a good dive bar. Inexpensive booze, good jukebox, darts and it seems every time I go there, it's karaoke night! I have been drunk at this bar a few times, and I have even sang a Duran Duran medley while drunk with my mates. Huge parking lot out back btw. One star off for the dumb frat boy types and their annoying birds who come to the bar and just irk me, because I am old and they should get off my lawn. Pros: Strong, cheapish booze Cons: Sometimes full of silly kids. more

my friend took me in as a welcome home. i will have to talk to her later about this decision... and some old dude at the bar spat /drooled/puked whatever ALL over her foot. it was so gross. nice group you have in there. i wont mention the "others" Pros: no redeeming qualities Cons: same as above more

Nice drinks, jody is nice those are the two nice things here, this bar is not worthy of five stars. NO bar is ......you lame-mo's. You like it down and dirty you will like it here AND be attracted to the one star ratings!!!!!!!! Pros: cheap Cons: people giving it 5 stars more

Most dive bars have people that frequent who are so mellow they do not care what other people do, the people that come here are PRETENDING to be cool with thier attitude and it throws off the charm of being a dive bar. btw if you are in acting class you might be bitter you CANT get into a hollywierd club and also cant afford it. those commercial residuals run out after awhile. yep its in the valley. yep its a bar. those are the only two good things about this place. it might appeal to others(maybe those who live in the bushes at Balboa Park). I was a newbie and treated like it by the other patrons. dont waste your time, even though the drinks were cheap, its not worth it with all the beeotchiness in the air Pros: could meet your future husband if you are looking for a bum more

Best Dive Bar in Town 6/18/2008

I don't review places normally however, in this case I must...The Foxfire and staff are great people and they have what alot of people are looking for, an intimate enviornment to socialize with friends and drink, say after acting class or a singing gig, they have a Juke Box and dart Board with outside smoking area, this place definately is not the Ritz and the owners know that...I think alot of reviews are unfair, if you want to go to one of those "Hollywood Clubs" and stand in line in HOPES they will say, come on in with the beautiful people, that's your stupidity. why would you want to go someplace you MIGHT be accepted...foxfire excepts all....Give me your Weak, Tired and Thirsty should be the motto....keep it up guys. Pros: Jody and the crew the whole place Cons: It is Dated say 1970's Valley bar....That's it's Charm and what I love more

I don't really go out that often. But when I do I like a bar with some personality. This one I am afraid did not have one. It wasn't a very pleasant experience for me. Just the truth here. more

hey if you want a place with classier people and a good atmosphere for karoke on sunday...try the Good Nite club at 10721 Burbank blvd. in NoHo. explodes this dirty, hoho ridden tweaker bar away! read the reviews here for this bar and upon trying and not meeting him anyway the owner sounds like a delusional tool. I have been frequenting the fox fire for years and have experienced only GOOD TIMES. The patrons rang from the elderly to the young. For a good drink, good conversation and a good time stop by. more
