Four Mile Historic Park

A small admission allows you to mosey around this parks 14 acres where you will be greeted (or at least tolerated) by chickens, roosters and peacocks). Also on the property is the Four MIle House, which is supposed to be Denver's oldest standing structure. Hourly tours are offered of this pioneer property and the staff is detailed and very knowledgeable about the history of both the house and the surrounding area. Kids love the full-sized tepee which they are allowed to sit in. Refreshments are available or you may bring a picnic lunch. The grounds are lovely and spacious. This is a fun place to visit with your family, especially for special events. Our favorites are their annual 4th of July Celebration and their Pumpkin Harvest. The grounds of this park are centered around a historic old stagecoach stop so the events are always themed on Colorado History. It’s fun to mingle with volunteers and exhibitors dressed in period costumes and telling or re-enacting local history. You and your family can pick your own pumpkins from their patch (imported in, not actually grown there) and make your own scarecrow for Halloween. They also have wagon and coach rides, music and entertainment. In the summer, they offer day camps for children of various ages. There are other events throughout the year.
