Every time I visit Chicago, I dine at The Four Farthings. Usually I eat the crab cakes which are exquisite. Last time I ordered the talapia which was the best I have ever had. ...

Excellent Lincoln Park Restaurant and Bar 6/3/2009

Every time I visit Chicago, I dine at The Four Farthings. Usually I eat the crab cakes which are exquisite. Last time I ordered the talapia which was the best I have ever had. The vegetable selections are delicious and very fresh...I usually order the green beens. I think they must have invented "wine by the glass" because their wine selections are numerous and reasonably priced. It is great fun to eat outside in the warm months and experience Lincoln Park dining at its finest . It can be busy but I never mind waiting. The bar is always fun. I have reserved the private room on several occasions for birthdays. The staff has always gone out of their way to make our event successful. I really am looking forward to the next trip to Chicago...this summer I hope. Pros: Delicious food and wine and great ambiance more

Great Live Music! 4/1/2009

Incredible Neighborhood Party Bar 12/8/2008

If you like live music, free party room, great beer, and amazing local flavor, you must check out this place! We threw a 40th birthday party for our girl friend that started out in the back room (which is free!) with amazing service from a great waitstaff. The live music was great and before the night was over, everyone was dancing in the aisles! What a way to spend a freezing night in Chicago! Pros: Perfect neighborhood bar! Cons: Not for those looking for fancy food & drink more

Food came in less time than the confirmation said and was very warm. Aside from tasting great (had the seafood combination appetizer and monterey chicken sandwich), they also separated the bun from the sandwich so it didn't get soggy. Huge plus in their favor. Will definitely order from here again. more

Great Staff & Great Free Party Room 9/15/2008

I was throwing a going away party on a budget, but I didn't want the party to come off as "budgeted", so I searched the web for expensive or free party rooms/areas. Four Farthings came up on the top of the list and I called and booked their free party room well in advance of my party. They allowed me to order the food the day before and the drinks were on a "cash bar" type basis. I got a little nervouse as the party got closer b/c I hadn't seen the room or had the food, but I was utterly pleased with my event. The party room was perfect--not too big and not too small. Plenty of seating and tables for food. We were able to decorate the area ourselves. We had a server, Danielle, who took care of us the entire evening and made sure we had everything we needed. I talked to both the owners, Bill and Jon, and they were so helpful and willing to accommodate. The restaurant and bar are very nice. The food is delicious. The drinks are excellent and fairly priced. We all had a great time and I wll definitely go to Four Farthings again. Pros: Flexible party arrangements, free party room, customer service Cons: None more

This place seems like it would be a "Cheers" type bar from the appearance, however, that's about it. Crowd was dull and not much of that to begin with. Made for a boring friday night more

They take care of their patrons 9/16/2006

We needed a place for a birthday party and learned they had a FREE party room in back. The room was not large but easily fit nearly 40 people who could sit or stand around a large table in the center. The manager recommended that we order appetizers as we needed them. This worked very well. Appetizers were generous in portion, fresh, hot, and delicious. The service was excellent. Servers took drink orders and worked the room to make sure we always had what we needed. When our group got a little bigger, Four Farthings opened the side doors where we could sit at their tables and enjoy a beautiful evening. The tab was more than reasonable for all the food we managed to put away. Loved the charming atmosphere and will certainly return to sample the main menu from their inviting dining room. Valet parking was a major plus but I don't think my husband tipped the valet enough! Thank you Four Farthings for a great evening and for your excellent hospitality. I really like this place, the food is very good (try the steak/mushroom salad or the steaks). The atmosphere is nice and the service is capable and attentive. I would recommend this place when you are looking for a place to have some good food and a few drinks. Pros: good food, good drinks, fun atomsphere Cons: hard to park more
