This guy is Horrible I went to have a tooth extracted and paid cash. The staff was friendly but the office is hood to say the least. I am black so its not a race thing but this guy didnt numb the tooth near deep enough i have had teeth extracted before. I was not given a stitch nor any antibiotics or pain medication. The office manager can get on here and say whatever they want she works there this place should not even be in business.. more

Insurance farmer *BEWARE* 8/13/2010

I hate to write reviews but this doctor deserves one. He is the only medicaid doc in volusia county. People on medicaid are forced to go to him. My fiance and I both have experiences but with vastly different insurances. I was under my Mother's insurance 'Volusia Health Network'. As an RN at Halifax she had an extremely good plan with the insurance. So I decided to go to the Dentist for the first time since I was very little. I was 16 at the time. Told them up front I needed cavities taken care of. My first reaction was to how different this place is compared to my childhood dentist memories. I remember a brightly lit, very clean environment. I'm not saying this place is dirty but it has poor lighting and dilapidated equipment. Then when you consider their lapses in sanitation it goes from being a scary place to the deepest pit of hell. Enough people leave with secondary infections that there should be an investigation. I digress though... I went in to have cavities filled. Left with a painful teeth scraping and nothing else. I'm the lucky one though. More recently my husband went there for a tooth extraction. They didn't provide adequate pain relief for him. When they yanked the tooth out they did put gauze in....but no pain relief. They banged around his mouth to yank this tooth, leaving him bruised and swollen in his cheek. He ended up at the emergency room a few days later to find he had an infection. Then he had issues with dry socket to make matters worse. No assistance from the doctor. They didn't want to see him. This happened a year ago and he still feels pain. Food gets stuck in the hole he has and it is not believed that part of the tooth is still inside. He needs another tooth extracted now....and I am personally paying from my hard earned cash to get him to a more professional doctor. He seems to give the same treatment to customers regardless of insurance. I would not recommend bringing a child to this dentist. The is a medicaid doctor in Seminole county. The drive is worth it if you own a car. more

More then one side 8/3/2010

I have been working for Dr. Graham for almost nine years. For those of you who don’t know Dr Graham. He takes 16 hours of his work week to be a Medicaid Provider in the Deland area. While it maybe easier for him to just work in his Orlando office. He believes in giving back to the community. This is something his father did in Miami for over 20 years. In Volusia County there are not that may Medicaid Providers. THAT’S A FACT. One of the many reasons why doctors don’t want to take Medicaid is because Florida Medicaid pays close to NOTHING for the services rendered. And yet Dr. Graham has kept this office open for almost ten years. Yes Dr Graham is not very talkative. We would love to be able to spend more one on one time with our patients. However that would mean that it would take weeks if not months before you are able to be seen. Again not that many Medicaid Providers. We do the best we can. For those of you who think he’s a “Butcher”. We have countless of patients that are very happy with the work he has done. There are patients that have been coming here the whole time I have worked for Fortune Dental. Not only are they happy but they look forward to coming in every six months with their children. As for “Emilycv03” if any of what you say is true. You would have a great lawsuit on your hands. HUGE!!!! But you don’t .……. because you are a LIAR!!!! We have NO lawsuits against us. Nor have we. We have NO malpractice suits against us. Nor have we. At the end of the day everyone isn’t going to be happy. I wish we could make everyone happy. But if six out of thousands of patients we have seen over the years are not happy. We are a great job. Dr. Graham I want to Thank you for being a good person, a wonderful boss and a great doctor. more

An open letter. 8/3/2010

While I respect the opinions offered here - I can't please everyone, nor will I try - I do not see why there is the need to lie about the experience as basis for you not liking the treatment rendered. By way of example, here are just a few things written below that I know for a fact never happened or aren't true. ""I have government issued insurance (medicaid) so he felt that b/c the gov was paying for it then he didn't have to help me as if he would with someone with their own ins."" Whether or not you have Medicaid has no bearing on your treatment. In fact, 95 percent of my patients have Medicaid, and a vast majority like the treatment they received. Boom. Roasted. ""pulled and prodded! yanked, twisted banged on my tooth!!! "" Well, that's how you take a tooth out. Except for the banging. That never happened. So, boom. Roasted. Again. ""I screamed so loud my sons ran in there and went off on the dentist. I mean screaming went off on him. When it was all done I went to tell the dentist a few things and he was no where to be found. Like he ran away!"" Uh, no. No sons running in the room screaming. No running away. Pretty much all made up. Boom. Roasted. Part 3 - in 3D. ""Not only does he ride a bus to work, he can't even afford doors on his rooms."" I have a car. The rooms have doors. Boom. Roasted. Yet again. Emilycv03's review is pretty much all made up nonsense. Boom. Roasted. The Final Chapter. In everyone's defense, I will admit to being impersonal. My advice? Be nice. It's better for everybody. Pros: I'm not a butcher. :) Cons: I'm not a butcher. :( more

He is a BUTCHER 6/9/2010

STAY AWAY!!! I'd drive to canada before I let him touch my mouth again. I should have known a black dentist would be terrible, but omg!!! Cons: EVERYTHING more

Inprofessional Dentist 4/8/2010

I only went to this dentist because it was the only one that accepted my insurance. I only saw the actual dentist once whenever I went in and that was when I was checking out. I went in for fillings, instead of filling the cavities they put the stuff on my cheeks and gums. I have no fillings where they actually took out the cavities so the food and liquid just swishes around on the inside of my teeth. They told me that the Novocaine would take away the pain when drilling but it didn't, the second time I went I asked for none and the pain was less severe. I went on another occasion with my siblings and they needed a specific tool for my brother and I, so they went into the other room grabbed the tool they were using on the previous patient and then proceeded to stick it in my mouth, they said they had cleaned it thoroughly, but then after taking it out of my mouth they stuck it in my brothers and I know for sure they didn't clean it. When confronted they just told us we had to leave. My sister has also suffered at their hands. She went in to have one tooth pulled, a baby tooth, and they winded up pulling three of her permanent teeth and was told to come back and have more teeth pulled; she is now 16 and has no molars thanks to them. I contracted gingivitis after visiting this dentist and I now have periodontal disease and I am only 21. I definitely would never recommend this dentist to anyone. Cons: You have severe dental problems more

Worst Dentist Ever 6/29/2009

Not only does he ride a bus to work, he can't even afford doors on his rooms.\r His bedside manner stinks. \r I went to him to have a tooth pulled and was treated like dirt. I informed the receptionist when I called about my phobia. I asked if they used the gel before the shots and she said to let him know that I wanted it when I went in. I did just that. But was told that they were out and he would give me my money back. When he gave me the shot, he twisted the needle in my gum and now I have scar tissue in my gum. I sat in the chair shaking for about 5 minutes and no one came to make sure that I was okay. Then the butcher pulled the tooth before the novacain even took effect. \r I would not refer this man to my worst enemy. If you can, do whatever it takes to go see a real dentist. more

Needs A lot of Bedside Manor 6/10/2009

I went to get a tooth extracted two years ago. And now I have to go back again to get another tooth pulled. I have been holding off forever for this because of the worst dentist in the world Certificate (bedside manor) he holds. The last time he didn't hardly put any Novocaine in the needle, so I felt everything. I told him I am feeling this and he said sorry. I asked for more he said No. Just No. My two teenage sons were out in the waiting room. I brought them along in case I could not drive. The dentist pulled, hammered, yanked and I felt everything. I screamed so loud my sons ran in there and went off on the dentist. I mean screaming went off on him. When it was all done I went to tell the dentist a few things and he was no where to be found. Like he ran away! I have had thousands of dollars of work in my mouth. I know what good dentist are, excellent dentist are. But I have only come across one bad dentist. At fortune dental. This time when I go. I am bringing a tape recorder. I am going to talk to him before he goes in my mouth. I am going to have him understand a lot of things. I am a nurse I know bedside manor and I don't have a problem pointing it out to doctors. I recommend everyone who has to go to Fortune Dental to do what I am doing. Sent him straight before hand. Then he will learn that us Medicaid patience have a point. Pros: Reception and Assistants are Great Cons: Dentist is terrible with No bedside manor more

Fortune dental of deland 9/14/2008

Worst ever!!!!! I have never had a problem with a dentist in all my life... I needed to have a tooth extracted and the dentist did not say one word to me!!! just stuck me w/ the needle 2x. pulled and prodded! yanked, twisted banged on my tooth!!! I could not believe the treatment I recieved! then i had a mouth full of unpleasantness and there was no where for me to purge it so they said SWALLOW IT!!!! how RUDE is that!! And to top it off... they didnt evev give me an antibiotic or any pain meds!!! motrin is not cutting it at all!!!! And it feels like there is a piece of root still hanging on in there!!! but of course no body answers the phone... leave a message and we will call you back in about a week!!! LMAO!!!!!!! And it should not matter what kind of insurance one has!!! if they accept what you have, then they should treat you like a decent human being !!! my 2 little kids go ther and I have never had a problem w/ there care only mine >..So what is wrong with this picture???? I think I will call my dental ins. and put in a complaint. more

terrible experience 2/28/2008

This Dentists office is terrible. The receptionists is nice if you can get a hold of them but the Dentists is mean and uncaring towards his patients. I went in there to get my tooth pulled and I was a little scared, they showed no sympathy, were rough with my mouth knowing it was swollen and infected, the dentists was rude and very unwilling to help. I believe this was because I have government issued insurance (medicaid) so he felt that b/c the gov was paying for it then he didn't have to help me as if he would with someone with their own ins. They never ans the phone, even if you call back to back 100 times. During their business hours they don't answer the phone so when they close at 1:00 pm and you couldn't get a hold of them then I guess you are just out of luck no matter how much pain and agony you are in or that your antibiotics aren't working and all you want is a different kind. I am very upset with these people and if they weren't the only ones in this county that take medicaid then I would never go back there and I would never recommend this place to anyone else. Pros: none/ receptionists was nice in the office but that is it Cons: rude/ uncaring to patients / rude more
