Fort Stanwix is a national monument governed by the US National Park Service. Admission is free so it is a perfect way to spend a fun and educational day with the family. It is also a great place for history buffs. This was an important part of the Revolutionary War. You can join a ranger led introduction to what went on at Fort Stanwix and then join him or her for a guided tour of the Fort to really understand what went on there. There are also military reenactments and going into the barracks you can experience what it was like for a soldier in the 1700s.
For students in the area, many times they take field trips to learn about American history that happened right in their backyards.
