Great local theatre 10/10/2005

This theatre has been around since I was a kid. It is conveniently located within a shopping area which includes a Stop & Shop, 99 Restaurant, a bank, gas station and a liquor store. The movie building itself is quant and historical, relatively speaking. It provides discounted movies that are just after it's prime. For less than 1/2 the normal ticket price - it's a nice deal. It houses many movie theatres which are fairly comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are always clean. Great place for a date night on a modest budget. Better yet, use the difference in savings to splurge on the treats that would normally rob you in a full price theatre. more

Soon to close 9/27/2005

Forestville Theaters are closing this week, which is pretty sad because while the movies are not brand new from the boxoffice, and while they are slightly understaffed, the price is right at only $3.25 per movie. The bathrooms and theaters are pretty clean, and they have a small concession stand with popcorn, candy and beverages. Too bad it is closing. more

Discount Theater 9/4/2005

Forestville Theatres is located in the Stop & Shop Plaza on Pine Street in Bristol. The admission price is only $3.25 and while the movies are not the newest releases you will find at the large chain theaters, they are movies that have come out recently or that are blockbusters that people want to keep seeing. One of the theaters is used by a local merchant and there are always really great old flicks that can be seen, like Rocky Horror Picture Show and other black and white classics (and usually they charge and even lower admission for these special movie nights). There is a small concession stand where you can get drinks, popcorn and candy, and the theater is clean and the owners and staff are friendly. Considering the constantly increasing prices at the big chain theaters, I like going to this local favorite, not only to save $6, but because they show great movies and it is only a mile from the highway. more
