As long as Tony Arenas is Principal in that school, I will not send my children there again. This is his first year as principal and he is a complete failure. This is also the first year with an Autism Classroom that too has been a complete failure in the extreme, from abuse, neglect, lack of proper education and safety concerns that I had to take my kids out of that school altogether. They didn't do any IEPs but Arenas will stand behind protocol, yet ignore some. In January 2012, after proactively trying to resolve issues with the teacher, Mrs. Holbrook, about her class and with the sorry excuse for a principal. As retribution, Holbrook called CPS and reported a minor injury my 6 year old had. We were cleared of charges and the Director of the Special Needs Program along with CPS apologized for the inconvenience but we never heard an apology from Arenas or Holbrook. Simply saying it was procedure. They ignored all our concerns and many of the parents were displeased by the lack of education and safety in Holbrook's class. Anytime a concern was discussed, Arena ignored it. NOW, in March, since my nephew attends the same class, Holbrook called CPS over an injury because she failed to look in his backpack for the note his mother placed in there with an explanation. It was too late, CPS had been called and even though one is cleared, it stays on your permanent record. Holbrook advised that if she would have seen the note, she never would have called. We all asked for a written apology and Arena simply directed the name of the Seminole School Attorney. There are other similar cases there. IF TONY ARENA IS THE PRINCIPAL, LOOK ELSEWHERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE THE MISFORTUNE OF HAVING MRS. HOLBROOK AS A TEACHER.
