Best

If your looking for something special or need to entertain your best client look no further. Forepaugh's has got it all. Best food, service, and ambience you can find anywhere in...

Worst

Do not go to Forepaugh's if you hope to eat relatively quickly. We allotted 1 1/2 hours for our office's Christmas lunch. We ordered, then waited. And waited. And waited. Fin...

a big letdown 6/3/2004

After going here for drinks one night, the bartender recommended their excellent brunch. We made reservations, but had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to show up to seat us. Glasses were dirty (lipstick marks) and when one of my party asked for a mimosa, he was brought a glass of champagne and a glass of orange juice to mix himself. Food was basically reheated. Cons: , poor service, too crowded more

Be Prepared... 3/26/2003

We went here for a special evening and felt that I could have had more fun in a card board box. When you walk thru the front door around 7pm be prepared to be packed in a small hallway with waiters and waiteress' running with food trays. The menu was appealing, but I was not to happy to find out they ran out of quite a few items that compliment your meal, ie: Brocolli, asparagus and others. The room we were sat in was small and you could barely move. The ambieance made up for the size. Pros: Good Food, Valet Parking Cons: Small Seating Area, Ran out of food more

historic, tasteful, and romantic 2/9/2003

The atmosphere was wonderful. This historic mansion offers many rooms to choose from, each with it's own fireplace and elegant decore. The tables are arranged carefully as to not seem crowded and to provide an intimate dining experience. Although a bit limited, the menu was wonderful (especially their daily features), including a nearly exhaustive wine list. Pros: historic beauty, romantic, mmm . . . food Cons: pricey more

GREAT SERVICE 1/28/2003

I have visited Forepaugh's three times in the past couple of months. Each time our service has been prompt, friendly, and they had great knowledge of the menu. We loved our dinner and if you enjoy ""french Onion Soup"" , it is the best around. more

Wow! That's all I can say is, Wow! 1/14/2003

This retaurant was superb. I haven't had such a great meal in ages, everything we ate kept getting better and better as we went on. The atmosphere was very inviting and sensually romantic with a view overlooking downtown St. Paul. The service was just right; not too pushy and not unattentive in the least. All in all I would say that this is the place to go for a nice evening with a sweet heart. Pros: Service, Ambience, Food Cons: A Little Pricy 4 Some more

A walk back in time.. 12/31/2002

Dining at Forepaugh's is indeed something all Twin City folk should try. The food is adventurous, as well as delicious! I never would have thought to put bananas with fish, but ooooh it was so good! An excellent place for an intimate, romantic date. Two thumbs up! Pros: Intimate, Different, Tasty Cons: Not baby-friendly, Parking, Kinda pricey more

French Cruisine at it's best!! 11/1/2002

Forepaugh not only has the ambience that's sure to make any night romantic but, it also holds great historical history for St. Paul as well. This is four star dinning. You get great service, food that stimulates any taste bud and it will definatly enrich anyone's night out, especially a couples night out. On top of it all you can come get enchanted by the old ghost stories that still haunt the place today. It's the perfect place to impress someone special, catch a bit to eat before a show at the Ordway, get pampered with good service, enjoy great french food, and catch up on a wee bit of your own history. Pros: great service, good food, wonderful atmosphere more

Great but a little cool 10/6/2002

We were able to get last minute reservations and the décor was beautiful. Our waitress and servers were prompt but not intrusive. Only complete would be the temperature was terribly cold. But we will be back. Pros: Staff and servers, Food: All courses Cons: Freezing temperature more

A special place 9/12/2002

The ambiance at Forepaugh's is really special. Even after dinner I always take time to walk around the neighborhood a little, especially down the hill and around the fountain in the middle of the neighborhood park. The best steak toronado I ever had was here. This is a great place to have dinner before going to The Ordway. They have a complimentary trolley shuttle for those attending the theatre so that you don't have to find a place to park downtown. Nice wine list. Very knowledable wait staff. This is a great place for a special occasion. Pros: Ambiance, Wait Staff Cons: Expensive more

St. Paul's Hidden Treasure 9/11/2002

When boyfriend took me to Forepaughs for my birthday and I found a new favorite restaurant. He is from the French part of Belgium and was curious to go to Forepaughs and see if it was 'real' French foo. Both him and I were definately impressed! The food was unbelievable and the service was oustanding. Just the ambience alone is enough reason to check this place out. I will definately be going back again. I can't reccomend forepaughs enough. Pros: great service, excellent food, best atmosphere Cons: a little overpriced more

Anniversary appropriate 7/23/2002

Nice romantic place for an a special occasion. We went for our 1st anniversary, and were treated very well. We were sat in a nice quiet, yet romantic table, and the food was very good. I have recomended this restaurant to several people for anniversary dinners, and they all came back with positive responses. more
