I wish I could give these guys no Stars.
My fiance called Fords Jewelers back in April of 2012, to inquire about getting a custom wedding band designed to match her engagement ring (which was NOT purchased at Fords Jewelers). They explained the process, and simply said to come in and they would go over the process with us.
So we show up on a Saturday morning, and were greeted by a woman with extremely bad teeth. We explained what we were looking to do, and she proceeded to ask a number of unnecessary questions.
1. Was this diamond certified?
2. Was it real or Moissanite?
3. Had I ever seen the diamond up close because there was carbon it.
Needless to say, this isn't the experience I expect, I basically was put in a position that made me feel like I purchased a cheap or possibly even fake diamond. My fiance left crying, and I felt like a complete ass.
The diamond was real, and yes I did know about a few pieces of carbon in the ring, but that is common, it's a 1.02 ct round. Not like I was trying to be cheap.
Needless to say this ruined our entire week. Just the sheer thought of someone "professional" questioning the validity of our engagement ring in the manor with which they did, truly made me sick.
I took the ring to another Jeweler (Neves in Woodbridge) just to get their opinion. And they were quick to tell me how nice it was. They also had better service when it came to making a custom wedding band for it. Their onsite Jeweler actually makes the molds and design the custom ring for free. They only charge for the ring itself. They did a lot to ease my stress by doing another appraisal, just to help confirm the quality of the diamond I had purchased.
Men, DO NOT take your fiance here to look at Wedding Bands, unless you actually bought your ring from them. Unless you too want to leave feeling like a shmuck.
